The Petrobras board held a meeting this Friday afternoon, the 24th, to nominate the company's new president

Marcio Weber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrobras, declared that it will promote an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, 27, to evaluate the appointment of Caio Paes de Andrade, considered at the meeting held last Friday, to chair the state-owned company.

Petrobras' Celeg (Eligibility Committee) held a meeting this Friday, the 24th, to evaluate the name of Caio Andrade to be president of the state-owned company.

Before the meeting that took place on Friday, sources stated that there was a forecast that the Council would meet to endorse Andrade's name. The notice for the Monday meeting should have been sent to the members of the board between the end of Friday and the weekend, with the meeting scheduled for 11:XNUMX am.

Sources claim that Caio de Andrade's name was a positive nomination

According to the same sources who stated that before the meeting, held on Friday the 24th, Caio de Andrade had already been considered to chair Petrobras, Caio's name was positively endorsed by the directors who participated in the meeting.

Celeg is also part of Petrobras' Cope (People's Committee), which is responsible for verifying information and requirements of those appointed by the government to hold positions in the state-owned company.

According to a Petrobras executive who evaluated Caio's resume, although there are some controversial points in his history, which go against the necessary requirements of the state-owned company's governance rules, they do not constitute an impediment.

The current secretary of Debureaucratization of the Ministry of Economy will take over the company in place of José Mauro Ferreira Coelho, who resigned from the positions of president and counselor last Monday.

Petrobras Council states that the name indicated to preside over the state-owned company does not meet minimum requirements

Caio Paes de Andrade, who was nominated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy to be the future president of Petrobras, before the resignation of José Mauro Coelho, he will be able to get the position, since Mauro resigned, this week of the 20th, the presidency of the state-owned company.

If Caio's name is approved by the committee, which will be held this Monday, he will become a director and president of the company.

Specialists consulted by Jovem Pan declared that the nomination of Caio Paes de Andrade could be approved. The understanding is that there are no obstacles that prevent approval, which is based on the opinion of director Rosangela Buzanelli, a member of the Board of Directors of Petrobras, who has been with the state-owned company for 35 years.

For her, the nominee for the position of president does not fit the profiles necessary to become CEO of the company.

“The candidate for president nominated by the Union, according to data collected by the press, does not meet the minimum technical training requirements, according to the State-Owned Companies Law and the company’s own statute, which requires academic training in the area and experience in a large company. similar or in the public sector for a minimum period”, he comments.

The change in command of Petrobras aims to attack Import Parity Prices (PPI). However, according to the president of UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Edmar de Almeida, there would not be enough time for the future president of the state-owned company to modify the pricing policy.

“These are measures that have already been debated in Congress and that present difficulties or challenges to be implemented, whether due to budgetary impacts, on the public deficit, due to the regulatory difficulty of implementing these changes in time for the elections”, said Almeida.
