Project Will Create Jobs, Boost the Regional Economy, and Expand Exports
With a strong presence in the markets of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Contegran achieved a 31.46% growth in its consolidated revenue for the year 2024. This increase was driven primarily by performance in the exports of sugar, coffee, and cocoa.
Among these, sugar stood out, gaining importance in sales projections for 2025. The company, known for its sustainable practices in agribusiness, solidified this advancement through aggressive commercial strategies and more efficient logistics.
Moreover, the results for 2024 reflect the expansion of commercial partnerships in strategic markets, especially in the eastern hemisphere. This not only increased the demand for the company’s Brazilian products but also reinforced Brazil’s role in the global supply of agricultural commodities.

Plant Should Transform the Municipality of Prado by 2028
Contegran officially announced in April 2024 the start of its project to construct a new sugar plant in the municipality of Prado, located in the extreme south of Bahia. The total investment is expected to reach R$1 billion, with operations projected to begin in 2027 and construction completion in 2028.
The facility will have the capacity to produce, in addition to refined sugar, ethanol and electricity from sugarcane biomass. According to the company’s strategic planning, the project aims to directly employ around 2,000 people throughout its execution.
However, the first months were marked by necessary delays. This occurred because the detailed mapping of arable land required technical analysis within a radius of up to 100 kilometers from the plant.
Despite this, the company has maintained the main schedule. It continues to engage in constant dialogue with the mayor of Prado, Gilvan da Silva Santos, and representatives from both state and federal governments.
Strategic Logistics at Ports as Preferred Export Routes
Since May 2024, Contegran has prioritized mapping the ports with the best structure and lowest cost for shipping its future production. The Port of Ilhéus (BA) and the Port of Aracruz (ES) have emerged as the most viable routes.
According to company executives, there is a direct interest in modernizing the port infrastructure in Ilhéus. This initiative could generate even more jobs and make the export of sugar, cocoa, and coffee more competitive.
The logistical choice considers not only the proximity of producing regions but also the capacity for loading and unloading. It also takes into account connectivity with state and interstate highways and the potential for future expansion.
Already, Contegran is studying partnerships with port authorities and logistics operators. The goal is to ensure fluidity in operations and environmental sustainability in transportation.

Project Should Boost the Bahian Economy and Productive Chains
The new plant represents not just a factory. According to an official statement released in June 2024, the project is a vector for regional development.
It is expected that the sugarcane productive chain will be significantly strengthened, benefiting small and medium producers in the region. This will stimulate rural infrastructure, modernize equipment, facilitate access to agricultural credit, and create new investment hubs around the project.
According to data from Contegran itself, the initiative will allow the integration of rural communities into the Brazilian export chain. This will increase agricultural income and generate added value in producing regions.
The government of Bahia is already studying fiscal incentive policies and improvements to the regional road network. These measures aim to support the expected logistical growth between 2026 and 2028.
Commitment to Agribusiness
The company reiterates that investment in Bahia represents a strategic step within its sustainable growth plan. This plan was initiated in 2022 and is reviewed annually.
For Contegran, the new hub in the south of the state symbolizes a long-term action. The focus is on technological innovation, social value generation, and environmental responsibility.
Thus, the company reinforces its position among the largest exporters of sugar, cocoa, and coffee in Brazil. By the end of 2025, the goal is to double its export capacity based on energy efficiency and rational use of natural resources.
Furthermore, the company commits to maintaining independent environmental audits. It will also seek partnerships with agricultural educational institutions and promote circular economy practices at all production stages.
Given this scenario of growth, planning, and responsibility, do you believe that Contegran’s expansion model can serve as a reference for other regions of Brazil?
