Efficiency and Innovation Guiding the Industrial Complex
Formed by farmers who voluntarily united to meet their economic, social and cultural needs, Cooperativa Tradição has more than 14 operational plants and is a significant pillar in the national agri-industrial sector. The collaboration with Schneider Electric aims to solidify its leadership position in sustainability and innovation in Brazil. The expectation is that the new plant will become one of the most sustainable industrial facilities in the country.
The project began with a thorough analysis of the cooperative’s needs, resulting in the choice of Schneider Electric for its ability to provide integrated and innovative solutions. ‘Schneider Electric offered us an extremely superior and well-adapted technological package, enabling the construction of one of the most sustainable industrial complexes in Brazil,’ explains Fernando Tonus, Executive Director of Cooperativa Tradição. The crucial decision came after rigorous selection criteria, recognizing Schneider Electric as the ideal partner to achieve ambitious goals for sustainability and innovation.
Cutting-edge Technologies and Integrated Solutions
The future industrial complex will initially focus on the reception and crushing of soybeans, whose implementation process is already underway, employing advanced solutions that will allow for the integration of systems for process optimization and real-time monitoring. Future expansions will include plants for biodiesel refining, corn processing, and feed production. These innovations will enable the visualization of environmental, quality, and safety indicators (KPIs), providing a detailed view of operational performance and traceability, which will allow for strategic decision-making to improve efficiency and reduce costs. ‘Schneider Electric demonstrated a superior capacity for control and sustainability than other companies we evaluated. This collaboration is essential for us to advance with excellence in our sustainability and governance journey,’ adds Julinho Tonus, President of Cooperativa Tradição.
Sustainability and Operational Efficiency as Goals
Schneider Electric coordinated the project from conception to execution, integrating various solutions and technologies. The company provided full technical support, including a robust data management system and a micro data center infrastructure focused on automation and management, with an emphasis on cybersecurity. The new complex adopted Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Resource Advisor tool to optimize energy consumption and enhance water efficiency. Additionally, ProLeiT, a division of Schneider Electric specializing in automation in the food and beverage industry, provided a platform integrator for process management and monitoring of manufacturing execution.
‘This combination of technologies and systems is designed to provide an efficient and sustainable operation in the new industrial complex,’ says Regis Ataídes, Vice President of Industrial Automation and head of Digitalization at Schneider Electric. The project stands out for its emphasis on sustainability, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and, in the future, use 100% renewable sources in the energy matrix. The positive impact of the project will be significant, especially in the Southwest region of Paraná, strengthening Cooperativa Tradição’s image and expanding its commitment to technological innovation. ‘This project will be a game changer for the region. It is a dream to have a modern plant, and we are excited to see the impact that Industry 4.0 will have on the market,’ adds Julinho.
Continuous Progress and Strategic Collaboration
The first phase of implementation is expected to be completed in January 2025, with the second stage scheduled for March 2026. The partnership involves the participation of several specialized companies and manufacturers, such as Patoeste, Engerey, Saur, and AGI, who contributed their expertise to meet the demands of the industrial complex. The financing was made possible by sources such as Finep, ensuring the project’s economic viability.
With the continued technical support and consulting from Schneider Electric, the project will advance to achieve all sustainability and efficiency goals. The collaboration reaffirms the mutual commitment to integrated and innovative solutions, strengthening strategic decision-making and providing a lasting positive impact. The micro data center infrastructure will be essential to the success of the industrial complex, with benefits ranging from energy efficiency to cybersecurity, fundamental pillars for Cooperativa Tradição.
