In Addition to Electric Bicycles Being Beneficial for the Environment, They Will Also Make Daily Life Easier for Mail Carriers, Speeding Up Deliveries by the Postal Service.
The Postal Service announces the replacement of its fleet of conventional bicycles with 762 electric bicycles, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. Starting in August, these new bicycles will be distributed throughout Brazil, promising significant benefits for delivery speed.
Greater Agility in Deliveries and Reduction of CO2 Emissions
With an attached motor that amplifies pedaling force, electric bicycles provide greater convenience and require less effort from riders, especially on long routes and steep terrain.
Since the 1980s, bicycles have been an essential part of the Postal Service’s fleet, with around 40,000 mail carriers using this means for short-distance deliveries.

Daily, these mail carriers travel approximately 67,000 kilometers, helping to reduce CO2 emissions that would be generated by the use of motorcycles.
The initiative is also aligned with global concerns about reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Since electric bicycles, like conventional ones, use clean energy and do not emit polluting gases.
Since 2013, the Postal Service has been monitoring its emissions, and over 10 years, it is estimated that they have avoided the emission of more than 950,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) from postal operations.
This initiative by the Postal Service is shared by various public and private entities around the world.
Renewal of the Postal Service Fleet with 762 Electric Bicycles and Other Improvement Projects
In addition to incorporating electric bicycles into its fleet, the Postal Service has been developing eco-efficient delivery options, such as Special Direct Mail, E-letter, and the Postal Service Lockers, which are simply smart cabinets for customers to receive packages away from home.
The results obtained from the use of electric bicycles will be evaluated.
If the benefits for employees and customers are confirmed, the company plans to acquire even more electric bicycles as part of its ongoing modernization process.
With this initiative, the Postal Service positions itself as a company committed to sustainability, using environmentally friendly means of transportation for its deliveries. Contributing to environmental preservation and promoting awareness about the importance of using clean and renewable energy.
