CNI Data Shows That Numbers During The Month Of November Were Quite Modest Compared To Previous Months. The Growth Of The Construction Industry And New Job Opportunities Fell Sharply.
Released this past Thursday (15/12), the data from the Construction Industry Survey, from the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), shows a not-so-positive scenario for the national industry in November. The growth numbers for the civil construction industry and job opportunities in the sector fell significantly during the month of November 2022. The confederation emphasizes that, while not positive, this is a usual result for this time of year, and that the sector should reestablish itself over the coming months.
Job Opportunities And Growth Index In The Civil Construction Industry Do Not Even Reach The Average Of 50 Points, Confirms CNI
The year 2022 was quite positive for various segments of the national industry due to the normalization and resumption of several activities after more than 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the Construction Industry Survey from CNI confirms that the results were not so positive in the last month for the national construction industry, especially regarding job opportunities in the sector.

According to CNI’s Economic Analysis Manager, Marcelo Azevedo, the drop from October to November is a usual movement for the period, and the activity and employment indexes fell below the dividing line of 50 points.
The growth and development index for the construction industry stood at 48.2 points in November 2022, falling 1.8 points from the final value in October.
The index for job opportunities and number of hires in the sector reached 48.5, retreating 2.1 points from October.
Thus, both indicators did not meet the average of 50 points projected by CNI for the civil construction sector in Brazil.
However, Marcelo emphasizes: “The year 2022 was marked by strong advances in the activity level for the construction industry, a trend that has reversed in recent months. These declines do not represent that a negative trend will now begin. We understand that the sector will continue at a high activity level; it just should not accelerate as it has been occurring.”
In Addition To Growth In The Industrial Sector And Job Opportunities In Civil Construction, CNI Releases Other Indices That Experienced Declines During The Month Of November
The growth of the industry and job opportunities in civil construction were not the only indices that suffered a decline this past month.
According to CNI, the Utilization of Operational Capacity (UCO) fell by one percentage point to 67% in November.
Additionally, the Business Confidence Index (ICEI) for the construction industry dropped 3.2 points, closing the year at 50.7 points.
Despite these results, CNI emphasizes that the coming months will be essential for the recovery of the numbers, and that the civil construction sector will continue to expand in Brazil, as it has in recent years.
