Creating Quail May Seem Risky, But Many Producers Are Discovering That It Is Possible to Make a Profit Even With a Simple Structure and Few Birds. The Sale of Eggs in Nature, With Good Management and Cost Control, Can Generate an Interesting Income at the End of the Month. And All of This With Only 100 Quails.

Creating quail may seem unprofitable at first glance. Many give up just thinking about the costs of feed, energy, and other inputs.

The question is common: do the eggs manage to cover the expenses and still leave a profit? The answer may surprise you. With the right management and organization, 100 quails are already enough to generate a good monthly income.

Increasing Consumption of Eggs Boosts Market

In recent years, the demand for quail eggs has grown significantly. As a result, the product’s value has increased, encouraging both small and large producers to invest in this type of farming.

Even with high feed and energy costs, the market is thriving, offering a profit opportunity.

The farming can start small. Just 100 quails already allow the producer to earn a good monthly amount. It’s possible to work solely with eggs for consumption, without needing males.

This reduces the space required and makes management easier.

Calculation of Production and Costs With 100 Quails

The example presented by the channel Profit With Quail shows in detail the costs and real earnings with 100 quails.

With a laying rate of 93% — a number achievable with good management — the producer achieves consistent daily production.

To simplify the calculations, a constant average is used throughout the month. Even if some days vary slightly, the overall average is what matters most at the end of the month.

Feed is one of the main costs. In the example, the price per kilogram is R$ 2.90. Adding the consumption of the quails, the monthly expenditure on feed represents a significant portion of the investment.

Other costs are included: trays for the eggs (R$ 0.72 each), water consumption (R$ 1.84), vitamin supplement (R$ 2.00), and electricity used to ensure the 17 hours of daily light necessary for good laying.

In the presented case, the bulb used is LED, with 70W, operating four hours a day. The electricity cost is R$ 0.98 per kWh.

All added together, the monthly cost to maintain 100 quails was R$ 324.29.

Sale of Eggs Covers Expenses and Leaves Profit

With all the costs accounted for, it’s time to calculate the profit. The price of a tray of 30 eggs varies by region.

In the example, each tray is sold for R$ 10. There are places where the price can reach R$ 15, R$ 17, or more. Some even manage to sell for only R$ 8.

Considering the price of R$ 10 per tray, the net profit for the month was R$ 636, already deducting all costs. In regions where the price is R$ 11, the profit jumps to R$ 1,117.

If sold for R$ 8, there is still R$ 444 left. Even the lowest price represents good money, especially for those looking for extra income.

With less than one square meter, it is possible to house 200 to 300 quails in battery systems. This shows that physical space is not a barrier. The production can fit even in small backyards.
