Opened in August 2025, the Indonesian market quickly gained importance for Brazilian exporters. Between January and May 2026, more than 12 thousand tons were sent, while the number of authorized establishments reached 52 and bilateral agricultural trade exceeded US$ 1 billion.

Indonesia became, in less than a year, the second largest destination for Brazilian beef offal. Between January and May 2026, the Asian country purchased more than 12 thousand tons, in transactions that reached US$ 19.5 million.

The result places the Indonesian market only behind Hong Kong among the main buyers of the Brazilian product. The opening occurred in August 2025 and paved the way for significant commercial presence.

Beef offal advances in the Indonesian market

The size of Indonesia helps explain the pace of sales. With more than 284 million inhabitants, the country imported, only in 2025, more than 70 thousand tons of beef offal from different origins.

These purchases moved more than US$ 150 million in the period. The volume confirms an important opportunity in this segment for duly authorized international suppliers.

Brazil entered this scenario with a broad export base. Between January and May 2026, more than 106 thousand tons of beef offal were shipped to 117 destinations, generating US$ 256 million in revenue.

In 2025, Brazilian exports of the product exceeded 267 thousand tons. The operations yielded US$ 605 million and reinforced the importance of this segment within the beef chain destined for foreign trade.

More slaughterhouses receive authorization

The opening of the Indonesian market was accompanied by the expansion of the list of authorized establishments. In September 2025, 17 beef slaughterhouses were included among the authorized exporters.

With this, the total reached 38 units eligible to sell to the country. In January 2026, another 14 plants received authorization, raising the number of authorized establishments to 52.

This advancement increased Brazil’s capacity to serve the Indonesian market and accompanied the strengthening of trade relations between the two countries.

Currently, Indonesia ranks 11th among the main destinations for Brazilian agribusiness. In the first five months of 2026, purchases of agricultural products from Brazil exceeded US$ 1 billion.

Highlights include the soybean complex, fibers, textile products, tobacco, and its derivatives. The entry of bovine offal broadens the diversity of this trade agenda.

Exportation expands economic utilization

Bovine offal has lower demand in the domestic market but is widely consumed in different countries. Therefore, exports offer an alternative to increase the economic utilization of the animal.

External commercialization also reduces waste and creates additional revenue for slaughterhouses and other members of the beef production chain.

The performance in Indonesia shows how market openings and the expansion of qualifications can transform products with lower domestic demand into significant sources of international revenue.

The expansion occurred in a few months and placed the Asian country among Brazil’s most important buyers, consolidating a new front for the sector.

What do you think about the growth of Brazilian bovine offal exports and the rapid entry of Indonesia among the largest buyers? Leave your opinion in the comments and tell us how this advancement can influence the meat chain, animal utilization, and Brazil’s commercial opportunities.
