The new airplane from Embraer is a turboprop with a capacity of up to 90 seats, featuring the same fuselage as the E-Jets. The company presented the airplane project to potential partners, with expectations for the first deliveries of the aircraft to occur by the end of 2027 due to the challenge of finding a viable and suitable engine for the medium and long term.
During interviews given by the president of Embraer at the Singapore Air Show, there were no comments about the engines for the airplane. The expectation is that a new generation of hybrid technology engines will be used, or even relying on conventional engines, but with high efficiency and capable of operating while being fueled solely with SAF, a renewable aviation fuel.

According to uol, one of the biggest challenges for the new airplane project is balancing what will be offered now with the reality of the market in a few years. It is risky to launch an airplane with engine or fuel technology that may become obsolete in the medium term. Betting on the use of hydrogen or electric propulsion still faces several technology-related challenges and is unfeasible in the short or medium term. Furthermore, these new technologies involve bureaucratic issues, such as certification regulations.
Moreover, according to studies conducted by Embraer, there is a potential market for around 2,260 regional turboprop aircraft over the next two decades, with 900 of these aircraft destined for the Asia-Pacific market, which is likely to be the largest in the world.
Meijer stated that Embraer is negotiating with several partners the terms for developing the new turboprop project, even without confirming the strategy for the new airplane project. Embraer has been working with risk-sharing partners for several decades, both in financial and industrial aspects, where presenting the market potential of the new aircraft would allow future partners to join the project by bearing part of the launch risks.
Market sources currently indicate that GE Aviation and Rolls-Royce are interested in working with Embraer on new turboprop engine technologies that offer over 20% reduction in fuel consumption, in addition to being developed to use other types of fuel in order to reduce pollutant emissions.
