The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) Reported a Drop in Oil Production and an Increase in Natural Gas Extraction
In April of this year, oil production totaled 2.958 million barrels per day, which represents a decline of 0.5% compared to the previous month (2.973 million bopd), according to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

On the other hand, natural gas extraction rose 2% compared to March, reaching 124 million cubic meters per day. In total, the country’s production was 3.738 million boed.
Petrobras produced 2.163 million bopd in April, a decrease of 1.1% compared to March, when the company’s oil extraction totaled 2.187 million bopd. The state-owned company extracted 96.1 million m³/d of gas during the period, in line with March’s results (95.7 million m³/d).

Oil Processing at Refineries Dropped 26% in April, According to the ANP
In total, 40.1 million barrels were processed during the month of April, compared to 54.3 million recorded in March.
The largest drop was observed in aviation kerosene production. During the period in question, the production of this derivative plummeted by 82%, totaling only 537,000 barrels compared to 2.9 million recorded in the previous month. According to ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), demand for domestic flights in April dropped by 93.1%, and for international travel by 96.1%.
Regarding gasoline production, type A for example, there was a 32% decline (from 10.8 million to 7.4 million in April).
Studies by Rystad show that demand for fuels for land vehicles will see a 10.8% decrease in 2020, totaling 5.1 million barrels per day. However, demand for aviation kerosene will decrease by almost 34%.
