Exclusive Spots for Women and Gender Equity
According to Neoenergia Pernambuco itself, the decision to reserve part of the spots in The Electricians School solely for women aims to expand employment opportunities for the female audience. Reaffirming the company’s goal, the president of Neoenergia Pernambuco, Saulo Cabral, says: “Neoenergia Pernambuco believes that the greatest recognition we can offer women is good opportunities, gender equity, and the enhancement of the female workforce in the market. Our intention is to effectively include a significant portion of this workforce formed with specific training to develop activities that were previously seen as predominantly male.”
The Electricians School
Neoenergia started conducting The Electricians School in 2013 and has already trained over 4,300 students in the states of Bahia, Brasília, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo. Of the total, 3,217 students were hired by Neoenergia’s units, of which only 262 are women. In Pernambuco, the company has already conducted 69 classes of The Electricians School, graduating 1,655 students, including 136 female students, and employed 1,260 professionals trained by the initiative, of whom only 94 are women. To promote diversity and inclusion, Neoenergia launched a pioneering action in 2019 by creating the first classes exclusively for women. This year, 19 mixed classes will also be opened. Additionally, the company’s desire is to continue hiring students after graduation.
