Embraer’s Huge Contract Was Worth Around US$ 7 Billion With American Airlines For E175 Aircraft Supply
According to CNN Brazil, Embraer has just secured a multimillion-dollar contract with American Airlines, which could exceed US$ 7 billion. The American airline placed a firm order for 90 E175 aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer, with a list price of around US$ 55 million each. Additionally, the contract includes purchase rights for another 43 units of the same model.
Before the contract announcement, Embryer’s shares were trading slightly up by less than 1%, but jumped to over 3% after the order was made public. At 1:33 PM, the stock lost momentum, showing a rise of 1.6%, at R$ 26.30.
American Airlines Plans To Retire Its Regional Aircraft Fleet
American Airlines plans to retire its entire fleet of regional 50-seat single-class aircraft by the end of the decade. To do this, in addition to the models ordered from Embraer, the airline will also purchase 85 Airbus A321neo jets and 85 Boeing 737 MAX 10s, totaling an order of 260 aircraft, with options for an additional 193 planes.
