System Created in Piauí Attracted International Attention by Using Electric Car as a Domestic Energy Source During Blackouts, Integrating Solar Panels and Reused Batteries in an Unprecedented Solution.
The solution created by the native of Piauí Tibúrcio Frota to deal with successive power outages in Parnaíba gained international projection after attracting the interest of a Chinese company in the technology and electric vehicle sector.
The initiative, originally presented by him in an interview with TV Cidade Verde, transforms a BYD electric car into a source capable of supplying an entire household for about eight hours, including air conditioning, refrigerator, and lighting.
Invention Emerged After Blackouts on the Coast of Piauí
According to Tibúrcio Frota, the idea began to take shape in 2023 when he moved to a coastal area of Parnaíba and began to face constant interruptions in the power supply.

The Brazilian Army inaugurated the assembly line for the Guaicurus armored vehicle with a contract for 420 units by 2033, and the same vehicle has already been tested in combat in Afghanistan and Lebanon by European armies.
According to the inventor, the combination of sea air and the distance from the power grid contributed to the frequent failures.
He already had solar panels installed, but still could not ensure stability in daily consumption.

As he reported in the article, the frustration led him to research alternative solutions until he discovered that a new electric model released by BYD offered, among its features, the ability to release energy through the charging plug.
“I thought I could use the car to solve my energy problem,” he stated. From there, he decided to acquire the vehicle and test the possibility of integrating it into his home’s system.
Expansion of the Project and Creation of Patented Module
The first experience worked, but it did not end the search for advancements.
About a year later, as he highlighted in the interview, Tibúrcio Frota decided to expand the project and create a system that reused batteries from crashed cars acquired at auctions.
The goal was to ensure greater energy autonomy, even in prolonged blackout situations.
He explained that the system works with a hybrid off-grid solar inverter, capable of operating both without connection to the utility’s grid and integrated with it, depending on the user’s needs.
To facilitate communication between the inverter and the reused battery, Frota developed a proprietary module, which is also in the patenting process.
According to him, this component acts as a “translator”, allowing the two devices to exchange data and operate in alignment.
“Here it speaks one language, there another; the module does the translation and allows everything to happen,” he detailed to TV Cidade Verde.
Energy Autonomy and Impact for Consumers

During the report, Tibúrcio Frota also noted that the complete system offers sufficient autonomy to keep the house running throughout the night.
He mentioned as an example a residence with air conditioning, refrigerator, and lighting, capable of remaining powered for about eight hours.
This result, he emphasized, was crucial for the technology to attract commercial interest.
Chinese Company Invests in the Solution from Piauí
The solution caught the attention of a Chinese company known for its global presence in innovation sectors, including the manufacture of electric cars.
The company recently presented new technologies at the São Paulo Auto Show, considered the largest automotive event in Latin America.
According to the company, there is already a device called V2L, a system that allows simple equipment such as fans or televisions to be directly connected to the car during trips.
However, Frota’s intervention significantly expanded the potential of the technology by integrating it into residential consumption.

According to brand representatives, the adaptation created in Piauí allows a house to remain fully powered for an extended period, something that was previously impossible with traditional external usage systems.
The company evaluated that Tibúrcio Frota’s creation represents a robust solution compatible with the trend of expanding renewable energies in the country.
Recognition and Expectations for the Future
For the inventor, the project’s reach exceeded any initial expectations.
He told TV Cidade Verde that he never imagined selling a technology of his own, as he had created the system solely to solve a household problem.
“I never imagined we would sell a technology,” he stated.
In his assessment, the recognition from the Chinese company reinforces the relevance of the innovation and expands the possibility of taking the solution to other Brazilian regions facing similar challenges.
According to Frota, the adoption of the model by an international giant could help put Piauí at the center of discussions about clean solutions for domestic energy consumption.
He emphasized that the ultimate goal is to assist families affected by frequent blackouts, especially in areas where the power grid is more vulnerable.
With the idea being purchased, the expectation is that the technology developed in Parnaíba will be improved and eventually incorporated into commercial products, expanding the use of electric vehicle batteries as alternative sources of residential energy.
This movement, as sector specialists analyze, should strengthen the transition to more sustainable systems in the country.
Given the speed with which this innovation has expanded and the projection it has achieved, an inevitable question arises: to what extent can domestic inventions transform the future of energy in Brazil?
