Companies headquartered in United Kingdom have designed an innovative mini wind turbine that could change the market, being more efficient and generating renewable energy in places that require less space.
Lincolnshire's classic giant east coast is most famous for its long sandy beaches and vast farmland. Now this region of the UK is focusing on the shift towards renewable energy and has installed two mini wind turbines that are just 2 meters tall. The two pieces of equipment were installed as part of a three-month pilot project, carried out in partnership with DSR Energy and Ventum Dynamics, with the aim of helping companies and organizations reach their zero emission goals.
Mini wind turbine generates greater efficiency with less space
The initiative is also the result of a partnership between the Councils of South Holland, East Lindsey District and Boston Borough, who work together to support growth and success in the region. The installation of mini wind turbines, one at FreshLinc Ltd in Spalding and the other at Skegness Pier, shows great progress in renewable energy generation in Lincolnshire.
The equipment generates greater efficiencies in terms of costs and spaces compared to a traditional wind turbine. In addition mini wind turbine is much quieter and easier to mount on roofs.
The renewable energy it captures winds from all directions without the need to turn, which is what makes it more practical and less invasive for nearby communities. While the Spalding wind turbine is connected to the electricity grid, the one in Skegness is off-grid and will be responsible for illuminating the tourist attraction at night.
Large scale installation can be quite a challenge
The journey towards renewable energy grows every day, with several companies and governments committed to mitigating their carbon emissions to fight climate change. Wind turbines are one of the most efficient means of generating clean and sustainable energy, however large-scale installation can be challenging due to issues such as noise and space occupation. The mini turbine, like the one installed in Lincolnshire, represents a viable solution that could revolutionize the market.
South & East Lincolnshire Council has been an advocate for sustainable solutions and the mini wind turbine project is just one example of their initiatives towards a more sustainable future.
In addition, the use of equipment can have a significant impact on the region, contributing to the development of the local economy and providing an economical and clean source of energy for companies. The results of the pilot project will be carefully monitored over the months to assess the performance and efficiency of the wind turbines.
New mini wind turbine technologies are emerging
Windcredible, a Portuguese company, works with the mission of bringing wind power generation on a domestic scale and, to that end, stopped using traditional wind turbines and developed a mini wind turbine with a unique shape.
With a patented design, the company's wind turbines do not have straight blades, but rounded ones, forming almost a sphere that rotates with the kinetic energy of the wind. As a result, they have a smaller scanning area and are compatible with urban environments.
The company's objective was not to generate yet another solution for large wind energy production parks, but to present equipment that could be installed on the roof of a building or in the backyard of a house. Another mission is to make wind energy accessible to everyone, in the same way that solar panels are today.
