UK Company Announces Its New VTOL Aircraft with a Range of 1300 km and a Maximum Speed of 370 km/h. The Vehicle is Much More Efficient than Conventional Models
The UK-based aviation startup, ARC Aerosystems, recently unveiled its new passenger VTOL aircraft at an event in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. The vehicle, which features 9 seats, is called the Linx P9 and is seen as a low-carbon and economical solution for intercity travel. The VTOL aircraft from the UK is quite lightweight and slim, weighing about 1,930 kg, with the main wing measuring just 12.6 m, which is very small compared to other models.
VTOL Has the Capacity to Reach 370 km/h
The vehicle, which offers vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, was presented by the UK company as a model that has the flexibility of a helicopter, combined with the performance of a fixed-wing utility aircraft. With these features, the startup aims to meet the challenging demands of regional air mobility.
The VTOL aircraft was developed with a fully composite structure and offers two variants. One is powered by a hybrid-electric powertrain, while the second has two turboprop engines.

Both variants were developed to support SAF and hydrogen in the future. The aircraft can reach a maximum speed of 230 mph, equivalent to 370 km/h, and maintain a maximum cruise altitude of 3,963 m. The standard range of the vehicle is 590 miles, or 950 km, and it offers an extended range of 807 miles (1,300 km) with an additional fuel tank.
The VTOL features a high-wing configuration, equipped with a retractable tricycle landing gear and is not pressurized. According to a statement from the UK company, the vehicle has the ability to perform a jump takeoff and a landing without rollout and without the need for a runway, making it a highly versatile passenger and cargo vehicle suitable for a wide range of uses.
VTOL Aircraft is Much More Economical and Offers Greater Range
The LINX P9 was developed as a response to new perspectives on the future of aviation. According to the company from the UK, sustainability and efficient transportation are the main focuses worldwide, so it is time to address them by reducing urban traffic, moving away from fossil fuels, and improving reliability and safety.
The company emphasizes that the design of the VTOL aircraft provides a 40% more economical alternative to helicopters based on the DARPA model and a 30% greater range compared to similarly sized helicopters.
According to Seyed Mohseni, CEO of ARC in the UK, this is a very exciting design concept that could be the ultimate solution for the market, being practical, safe, and accessible while providing the right response to current environmental concerns.
Project Needs to Be Optimized with Test Models
The future of the VTOL aircraft is still uncertain, as test models need to be created to optimize the design before bringing it to market. Currently, ARC has completed a 100% scale test for its C-150 vessel, proving its capability to turn its designs into reality.
The company’s executive is confident that the LINX P9 will meet market demands. Mohseni states that developing an aircraft requires dedication to meet customer demands in the next 5 to 50 years and to define a roadmap for timely certifiable technology to achieve solutions for these needs.
