Innovation From a Dutch Company Could Revolutionize the Bicycle Market by Solving One of the Biggest Limitations of Conventional Tires, Offering More Practicality and Performance
Tires are one of the most vulnerable parts of a bicycle. A study conducted in 2023 revealed that cyclists face a flat tire every eight months, on average. In addition, 79% of surveyed cyclists reported more problems when using inner tubes.
Thinking about this, a Dutch company developed the Schwalbe Airless System, a patented, puncture-proof, maintenance-free tire that eliminates the need for frequent inflation.
Flexible and Lightweight Material

In the market, there are already solid tires that prevent flats, but they are heavier and lack flexibility, compromising the comfort of cyclists while pedaling, especially on paved roads.

To overcome this issue, Supreme Dutch chose to use thermoplastic polyurethane in the composition of the Schwalbe Airless System. This material has high elasticity and low weight, allowing the tire to absorb impacts efficiently, ensuring comfort similar to inflated models.
According to the company, this new tire stands out for its ability to quickly return to its original shape after being compressed. This recovery effect is twice that of the solid tires available in the market.

Long Durability and Possibility of Recycling
In addition to flexibility and lightness, the thermoplastic polyurethane used in the production of the Schwalbe Airless System also features high abrasion resistance. According to Supreme Dutch, the tire allows cyclists to cover over 10,000 km without the risk of flats and without maintenance.
When its useful life is reached, the tire can be returned free of charge to the manufacturer for 100% recycling.
This development was carried out in partnership with the German brand Schwalbe, which belongs to Ralf Bohle GmbH. The collaboration between the two companies resulted in a product that combines innovation and sustainability, offering a practical solution for cyclists of different profiles.
To meet the needs of as many cyclists as possible, the Schwalbe Airless System was designed to fit different types of rims.
The tire is available in sizes ranging from 20 to 28 inches, with widths between 40 and 60 mm. It can be installed on traditional bicycles, cargo bikes, and e-bikes.
