Brazil Continues to Grow with the Renewable Energy Market and, for 2022, the Estimate is That Sources Such as Solar and Wind Energy, Major Sources in the Country, Will Receive Nearly Double the New Investments
Investments in solar and wind energy will continue to grow in Brazil next year due to the expansion of renewable energy sources among residential, industrial, and commercial consumers and the new regulation of distributed generation. The high cost of electricity in the regulated market, which has no estimates for reduction next year, is also contributing to users switching to renewable energy and distributed generation.

Another incentive that renewable energy sources will have in 2022, particularly solar energy, is the recent approval of a project that creates a legal framework for mini and microgeneration of distributed energy in the Chamber of Deputies. President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to approve the initiative soon.
Solar Energy Receives Investments of R$ 38 Billion Since 2012
Investments in solar energy, since 2012, total nearly 38 billion reais according to Absolar. The Association is now negotiating with state governments for the reduction of ICMS taxes on solar energy panels.
In recent years, a wide range of companies in the production and distribution sector of the renewable energy source has emerged with various business proposals and models. More than 20 thousand of these companies operate in this sector still under the franchise model, such as Blue Sol, which reached 178 franchises in the photovoltaic solar network last week. The company’s estimate is to reach about 350 contracted and inaugurated units by the end of the year.
Wind Energy Could Reach 32 GW of Power by 2026
Aneel estimates that wind power plants will increase from 20.1 GW of installed capacity to 26.4 GW next year. At this moment, the renewable energy source represents 11.1% of the Brazilian energy matrix.
Currently, there are about 5.5 GW of wind capacity already under construction, where 2.95 GW will come online over the next year, according to Aneel. Abeeólica, the sector association, indicates that last month Brazil had 751 operational wind power plants with more than 8,800 generators operating in 12 states. A large part of the projects are located in the states of Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.
This year, the estimate is that the renewable energy source will reach 21 GW of installed capacity and 32 GW by 2026, considering the contracts already signed. According to Abeeólica, approximately US$ 35.8 billion was invested from 2011 to 2020.
