Equatorial Energia Just Inaugurated The First Electric Car Charging Station In Maceió, Alagoas. A Total Investment Of R$ 265 Thousand Was Made For The Installation Of The Equipment.
On this Wednesday (11), Equatorial Energia inaugurated the first charging station for electric cars in Maceió, Alagoas. The station was installed on the Vera Arruda corridor and will operate in partnership with the city hall of Maceió. The equipment will be used for supplying electric cars and will be available 24 hours a day for free. A total amount of R$ 265 thousand was invested for the installation of the equipment. The charging station provides two charging points for electric cars, which take about three hours to recharge, possibly reaching a maximum of 6 hours, depending on the model of the electric car.

The charging station will also have four points for charging motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles. This equipment is the first of its kind in Alagoas; however, the company has already implemented similar projects in Piauí and Maranhão.
The initiative aims to contribute to electric mobility and promote the use of sustainable transportation. According to Equatorial Energia, the project in Maceió is funded by Aneel’s Research and Development Program. Charging will be done for free through the dedicated charging station for T2 electric cars, which, according to Equatorial, is the best-selling electric car model in the country.

To access the equipment, citizens will not need to register or sign up, as long as the charging points are available, just plug in the vehicle and charge. The energy supplied for charging electric cars will be sourced from solar panels during the day and complemented by the electrical grid when there is no sunlight.
The charging station will also offer ten electric bicycles for free rides. To use the bicycle, one must be at least 18 years old, fill out a registration form, and download an app. The app to be downloaded is called E + Electric Mobility, available for Android and iOS operating systems.
How The Bicycle System Will Work
At the electric car charging station in Maceió, ten bicycles will also be available for free rides. In the previously mentioned app, customers register to have the bicycle released.
Those who access the bicycle will be able to travel up to 5km for a maximum of one hour. With one charge, it will be possible to ride from the electric car charging station located on the Vera Arruda Corridor to the Atlantic at Pajuçara, or to the end of the Jacarecica waterfront and return to the starting point. The bicycle loan service will operate from Monday to Saturday, from 2 PM to 10 PM, and Sunday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Equatorial Energia Launches Initiatives In Other States
In addition to Maceió, the Equatorial Group inaugurated the first electric car, bicycle, and motorcycle charging station in Teresina, at Parque da Cidadania, and during the inauguration ceremony for the equipment, the donation of an electric car to the municipal government was finalized.
According to the president of Equatorial Piauí, Lener Jayme, through this electric mobility initiative, the company aims to contribute to decarbonization by utilizing renewable energy sources, such as solar energy. The goal is to promote the use of renewable energy and encourage the reduction of environmental impacts resulting from the use of fossil fuels.
The electric car donated to the city hall will be used in municipal management inspection actions. According to the state secretary, Elisabeth Sá, in addition to developing a sustainable transportation proposal, it is necessary to think of solutions that reduce the impact on the environment, the secretary added.
