Free Event on June 4 Will Gather Opportunities in the Naval, Port, and Offshore Sectors. Initiative Aims to Boost Qualified Jobs and the Development of the Blue Economy in Angra dos Reis.

In order to expand access for the local population to qualified jobs in the naval, port, and offshore industries, the Brasfels shipyard will hold a job fair exclusively for residents of Angra dos Reis in the state of Rio de Janeiro on June 4.

The event will take place at the Environmental Studies Center (CEA), located on Praia da Chácara, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. Participants will be able to submit resumes, register professional data, and learn about hiring opportunities for various technical and operational positions.

Partnership Between Brasfels, Seatrium, and City Hall

The initiative is organized by the Brasfels shipyard, currently operated by the multinational Seatrium, and has the support of the Municipal Secretary of Economic Development of Angra dos Reis. The City Hall’s Talent Bank will also participate in the event, assisting candidates with applications for available positions.

The expectation is that, over the next few months, more than a thousand vacancies will be available in the sector known as the Blue Economy, which combines economic growth with the sustainable use of ocean resources.

Reinforcement of the Blue Economy and Local Development

The so-called Blue Economy involves activities that utilize marine and coastal resources to generate jobs and income while preserving aquatic ecosystems. The city of Angra dos Reis, with its industrial tradition linked to the sea, has a natural vocation for strengthening this development model.

By holding the fair, Brasfels reinforces its role as one of the main agents of promoting regional employability, offering local residents new possibilities for professional insertion in the naval and offshore sectors.

Tradition of the Shipyard in Angra dos Reis

Located in Angra dos Reis, the Brasfels shipyard is one of the largest industrial structures in the naval and offshore industry in Brazil. Its origins date back to the old Verolme Shipyard, founded in the 1960s by a Dutch group, Verolme United Shipyards.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the shipyard was responsible for the construction of ships, oil platforms, and large naval structures, being considered a national reference in the sector. At that time, it employed thousands of workers and significantly contributed to the industrial and urban growth of Angra dos Reis.

Today, operated by the company Seatrium, the shipyard continues to be an important source of employment and regional socioeconomic development, integrating projects focused on oil and gas exploration and production, with an emphasis on sustainable technologies and maritime engineering solutions.

Opportunities for Different Educational Backgrounds

The job fair will offer positions for various levels of education, from operational roles to specialized technical positions. Interested individuals will be able to register with the assistance of the Seatrium human resources team and the technicians from the Municipal Talent Bank. The selection will include vacancies in areas such as:

  • Boilermaking
  • Welding
  • Industrial Painting
  • Naval Mechanics
  • Electricity and Instrumentation
  • Port Logistics
  • Administrative and Technical Support

The hiring will meet the demand from ongoing projects and future contracts of the company, with priority given to residents of Angra dos Reis.

Guidelines for Candidates

The organizers advise that interested parties attend the location carrying:

  • Photo ID
  • CPF
  • Proof of residence in Angra dos Reis
  • Updated resume
  • Certificates of courses and training (if available)

Participation in the event is free and does not require prior appointment.

Encouragement of Qualification and Income Generation

The Brasfels opportunity fair is part of a set of actions aimed at requalifying the local workforce and valuing regional labor. According to the City Hall of Angra dos Reis, job creation in the industrial sector has been a priority of the current administration, which seeks to align public policies with market needs.

The event also reinforces the commitment of the shipyard and Seatrium to social sustainability, promoting productive inclusion and access to formal jobs in strategic sectors for the development of the city.

Perspectives for the Naval Industry in Angra

With investments in maritime infrastructure and the advancement of offshore exploration in Brazil, Angra dos Reis is regaining a strategic position in the industrial landscape. The Brasfels shipyard, due to its structure and location, is expected to continue attracting large contracts in the coming years.

The city is thus preparing for a new cycle of economic growth, with the generation of qualified jobs and the strengthening of the naval and offshore production chain. The fair on June 4 is the first step to broaden the local population’s access to these new opportunities.
