By holding the fair, Brasfels reinforces its role as one of the main agents of promoting regional employability, offering local residents new possibilities for professional insertion in the naval and offshore sectors.
Tradition of the Shipyard in Angra dos Reis
Located in Angra dos Reis, the Brasfels shipyard is one of the largest industrial structures in the naval and offshore industry in Brazil. Its origins date back to the old Verolme Shipyard, founded in the 1960s by a Dutch group, Verolme United Shipyards.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the shipyard was responsible for the construction of ships, oil platforms, and large naval structures, being considered a national reference in the sector. At that time, it employed thousands of workers and significantly contributed to the industrial and urban growth of Angra dos Reis.
Today, operated by the company Seatrium, the shipyard continues to be an important source of employment and regional socioeconomic development, integrating projects focused on oil and gas exploration and production, with an emphasis on sustainable technologies and maritime engineering solutions.

According to the City Hall of Angra dos Reis, job creation in the industrial sector has been a priority of the current administration, which seeks to align public policies with market needs.
The event also reinforces the commitment of the shipyard and Seatrium to social sustainability, promoting productive inclusion and access to formal jobs in strategic sectors for the development of the city.
Perspectives for the Naval Industry in Angra
With investments in maritime infrastructure and the advancement of offshore exploration in Brazil, Angra dos Reis is regaining a strategic position in the industrial landscape. The Brasfels shipyard, due to its structure and location, is expected to continue attracting large contracts in the coming years.
The city is thus preparing for a new cycle of economic growth, with the generation of qualified jobs and the strengthening of the naval and offshore production chain. The fair on June 4 is the first step to broaden the local population’s access to these new opportunities.
