Navy bodies signed an agreement, in Rio de Janeiro, which provides for the completion of the works on ships that had their construction paralyzed at the EISA shipyard
The Brazilian Navy took a big step towards the conclusion of the work on the Patrol Ships (NPa) “Maracanã” and “Mangaratiba” in Rio de Janeiro, with the signature, between the boards responsible for the project, of a term of commitment.
These vessels belonged to the scope of the Eisa SA shipyard, but were not completed and with the closure of the company they were transferred to the Navy Arsenal. The Navy even disclosed that it would hire a company to finish the works.
The term of commitment was signed last Tuesday (27/08), at DEN's premises, by the boards of DEN itself (Board of Naval Engineering), of DIM (Industrial Board of the Navy) and of DCTIM (Board of Communications and Information Technology of the Navy) and marks the resumption of shipbuilding at the Rio de Janeiro Navy Arsenal (AMRJ).
The Director of DCTIM, Rear Admiral (EN) Luciana Mascarenhas da Costa Marroni, took part in the signing of the agreement; the Director of DSAM, Vice-Admiral Alfredo Martins Muradas; the Director of DEN, Vice-Admiral (EN) Mario Ferreira Botelho; the Director of DIM, Vice-Admiral (EN) Liberal Enio Zanelatto; the Director of the AMRJ, Rear Admiral (EN) José Luiz Rangel da Silva; and DIM Project Management Superintendent, Frigate Captain (Ref-EN) Carlos Roberto Frambach.
The services
It was not disclosed whether the navy will subcontract the services or perform them with its own labor from its shipyard, Arsenal, located on Ilha das Cobras in Rio de Janeiro, since the shipyard's current portfolio is quite extensive.
The vessels subject to the term of commitment are the NPa (Patrulha Ship) Maracanã, which has already been launched and is currently moored at the Navy Arsenal in Rio de Janeiro, on Ilha das Cobras, and the NPa Mangaratiba, which is in a shed at a less advanced stage of construction.
