Naval Authorities Celebrated Agreement in Rio de Janeiro That Provides for the Completion of Ships Whose Construction Was Halted at the EISA Shipyard
The Brazilian Navy took a significant step toward the completion of the Patrol Vessels (NPa) “Maracanã” and “Mangaratiba” in Rio de Janeiro, with the signing, among the directors responsible for the project, of a commitment term.
These vessels were part of the Eisa S.A shipyard’s scope, but they were not completed, and with the company’s closure, they were transferred to the Navy Arsenal. The Navy even announced that it would hire a company to finish the works.
The commitment term was signed last Tuesday (08/27), at the DEN facilities, by the directors of DEN (Naval Engineering Directorate), DIM (Navy Industrial Directorate), and DCTIM (Navy Communications and Information Technology Directorate) and marks the resumption of shipbuilding at the Navy Arsenal in Rio de Janeiro (AMRJ).

The Services
It has not been disclosed whether the Navy will subcontract the services or execute them with its own workforce from its shipyard, the Arsenal, located on Snake Island in Rio de Janeiro, given that the current portfolio of the shipyard is quite extensive.
The vessels subject to the commitment term are the NPa (Patrol Vessel) Maracanã, which has already been launched and is currently docked at the Navy Arsenal in Rio de Janeiro, on Snake Island, and the NPa Mangaratiba, which is in a warehouse at a less advanced stage of construction.
