In the midst of increasingly intense debates about human rights, health, and inclusion, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) has announced the opening of a free specialization course aimed at professionals interested in these fields.
The initiative, led by the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP), represents a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge and obtain a recognized certification.
The institution has 25 spots available for the specialization in Human Rights, Gender, and Sexuality, scheduled to begin in May 2025.

The course will total 480 hours, divided between online and face-to-face activities.
Moreover, students will need to develop a Final Course Project (TCC), with a deadline for submission in April 2026.
Course Structure
The specialization consists of four learning units, addressing different aspects of the central themes:
- Learning Unit I: introduction to the fundamental concepts of Human Rights, Health, and Gender;
- Learning Unit II: analysis of the challenges of the Unified Health System (SUS) and sexual and reproductive rights;
- Learning Unit III: exploration of discussions on gender and sexuality in specific social contexts;
- Learning Unit IV: phase of guidance, preparation, and defense of the TCC.
The course will take place between May 13 and October 22, 2025, a period dedicated to classes and academic activities. The preparation of the TCC will occur between October 23, 2025, and March 31, 2026, with the official course closing scheduled for April 30, 2026.
The course methodology aims to integrate theory and practice, encouraging critical reflection on contemporary challenges of human rights and health equity.
During classes, participants will have access to case studies, interdisciplinary debates, and immersion activities that enable a deeper understanding of the addressed themes.
Additionally, the specialization features renowned professors and experts who will bring practical field experiences to enrich students’ learning.
Who Can Enroll?
The specialization is aimed at professionals with degrees in Social Sciences, Law, Health, Public Management, Psychology, and related fields, provided they have completed their degrees at institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
The course is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to work in areas related to public policy, collective health, human rights, and social inclusion.

How to Enroll
Interested individuals must register by 4 PM (Brasilia time) on February 10, 2025.
The process takes place through the SIGA LS Platform, following the path: Registration > In-person Modality > Specialization Category > National School of Public Health Sergio Arouca Unit > Human Rights, Gender, and Sexuality.
To enroll, it is essential that the candidate carefully reads the announcement, gathers the required documentation, and follows the steps described in the selection process correctly.

Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be conducted in two stages, both of which are eliminatory:
- First Stage: document analysis, which will take place between March 6 and 21, 2025;
- Second Stage: qualifying interviews between April 7 and 11, 2025.
The first phase consists of evaluating the curriculum and documentation of the candidates.
The second phase will be based on interviews, where participants can express their motivation to join the course and demonstrate their previous knowledge and experiences in the field.
Approved candidates will be notified via the official Fiocruz platform, where they will also be able to access additional information about the course, the schedule, and other academic requirements.
