Exail Will Provide 30 AHRS Quadrans Systems for Petrobras FPSOs, in Partnership with Mitang, Reinforcing Safety and Efficiency of Offshore Operations in Brazil.
The French multinational Exail, specializing in inertial navigation technologies, signed a contract with the Brazilian Mitang, focused on offshore services, to provide 30 AHRS Quadrans systems. The equipment will be installed on Petrobras FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading units) operating off the coast of Brazil.
The agreement was signed in the first half of 2025 and reinforces the commitment of the companies to safer and more efficient operations in challenging maritime environments.
With local technical support and robust technology, the aim is to ensure greater precision in monitoring the platforms, even in areas with limited GNSS signal coverage.

Criminals dig a secret tunnel to tap into Petrobras pipeline, steal 100,000 liters of fuel and put thousands of people at risk of explosion in the Federal District.
The initiative strengthens Exail’s presence in the Brazilian energy sector and positions Mitang as a strategic partner in modernizing Petrobras’ fleet.
AHRS Quadrans: Precision and Reliability in Offshore Operations
The AHRS Quadrans, a system developed by Exail, delivers real-time measurements of tilt, rotation, and heading, with a precision of 0.23° seclat RMS. This performance is essential to ensure the stability of FPSO platforms, especially in adverse conditions and difficult access to GNSS.
Designed to withstand severe maritime environments, the system requires no maintenance, significantly reducing operational costs and increasing the availability of the units.
Another distinguishing feature of the Quadrans is its quick restart capability, ensuring immediate resumption of operations after power outages.
Cutting-Edge Technology at the Service of Petrobras
The partnership with Mitang allows Petrobras to incorporate an innovative, high-performance solution tailored to the challenges of offshore operations in Brazil.
The installation of Exail’s systems will bring greater confidence for complex maneuvers and precise control of the position and orientation of the platforms.
According to Diego Fernandes, CEO of Mitang, “this partnership with Exail reinforces our commitment to operational excellence and safety in the Brazilian offshore sector.”
He emphasizes that the AHRS Quadrans technology enhances real-time monitoring capability, a critical point for offshore operations.
Exail Establishes Itself in the Offshore Energy Market
For Exail, this contract marks another step in consolidating its presence in the global offshore energy sector.
The company has been expanding its presence in high-complexity projects, providing technological solutions that combine reliable performance, durability, and efficient integration with existing naval systems.
Thiago Montanari, Sales Director at Exail, celebrated the new project: “It is an honor to contribute to this significant project alongside Mitang and Petrobras. Our AHRS Quadrans system represents the most advanced innovation in offshore navigation.”
With this new supply of AHRS systems, Exail reinforces its role as a reference in inertial navigation applied to the offshore sector.
Together with Mitang, the company contributes to increasing safety, reducing costs, and optimizing Petrobras’ operations along the Brazilian coast—a significant advancement for the national energy industry.
