Ypê, which is one of the largest manufacturers in the cleaning sector, is joining with other companies to accelerate the construction of the factory for the production of vaccines against the new coronavirus at the Butantan Institute.
It was announced this Wednesday (10) the donation of R$ 1 million from Ypê for the construction of a new vaccine factory to combat the new coronavirus at the Butantan Institute. The donation made by Ypê was made to the social organization Comunitas, which is active in a partnership with the Government of São Paulo. “Ypê believes in actions that make a difference in the fight against the disease and help the Brazilian population in a direct and supportive way,” said Ypê’s president, Waldir Beira Júnior.

With the investments received from Ypê and others, the new Butantan Institute facility will be four times larger than the current one, and it is estimated that the first doses of the vaccines will be produced in December. The factory will produce around 100 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine per year, marking Brazil’s independence in terms of vaccine importation. It is known that around 40 companies have already made donations to support the new Butantan factory.
Ypê Helping Brazil Amid The Covid-19 Pandemic
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ypê has donated more than R$ 30 million just in hospital equipment and cleaning items to social institutions and communities, and has also participated in the construction of oxygen plants in the state of Amazonas and donated 3.3 million bottles of 70% alcohol and more than 200 tons of bar soap.
