Construction Industry Becomes a Priority in the Fight Against COVID-19 and Workers Gain Right to Vaccine at Their Workplaces
On this Friday (22), construction workers were included in the list of priority groups by the Ministry of Health in the plan for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. In total, the construction sector represents about 5.3 million people, according to Folha de Sp. Also included in the plan for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, in addition to construction workers, are air and water transport workers, as well as port workers; these groups, alongside construction workers, are prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccination.

With these changes, the total number of people expected to receive doses among priority groups, in addition to construction workers, jumps from 65 million to over 75 million. A schedule for administering the two vaccine doses among these groups, including construction workers, has not yet been established.
The Ministry of Health stated in a note that “schedules for distributing doses among the corresponding priority groups will be announced through technical reports.”

Vaccination Plan of the Ministry of Health Includes More Than 350 Million Doses of Vaccine Against COVID-19
In a plan established by the Ministry of Health, the agency states it has over 350 million doses contracted for COVID-19 vaccination, of which 212 million would be from AstraZeneca/Fiocruz, 100 million from Butantan/Sinovac, and 42.5 million from the Covax Facility consortium.
