Extraordinary announcement calls for master's degree in special education
UFRN announced, through Notice No. 008/2024, the opening of registrations for the Professional Master's Degree in Special Education, aimed at professionals interested in deepening knowledge and developing research in the area.
Seven vacancies will be offered, all free of charge and aimed at broad competition.
The course aims to train specialists to deal with educational demands related to disabilities, high abilities and disorders such as autism spectrum.
Interested parties must register between the days December 20, 2024 and January 10, 2025, through the Integrated Academic Activities Management System (SIGAA).

What is the Professional Master's in Special Education?
The program was created to train highly qualified professionals to serve people with specific educational needs (SEN).
The proposal combines teaching and research with practice, training students to work in schools, research institutions and public bodies.
The course is organized into two main research lines:
Education, assistive technology, accessibility and culture: Focus on the use of innovative technologies and methodologies that increase accessibility and promote inclusion.
Teaching and learning processes from the perspective of special education: Aimed at the analysis and development of adapted pedagogical strategies.
Who can apply?
According to the notice, the following can participate:
- Graduates in any field with diplomas recognized by the MEC.
- Candidates who are finishing their undergraduate degree, provided they present supporting documentation during the registration period.
- Brazilians and foreigners, respecting the specific requirements for each category.

How does the selection process work?
Entry into the program involves five steps:
Approval of registrations: Evaluates the documentation presented by the candidates.

Proposal presentation: The selected candidates will present their ideas via video conference in detail.
Lattes CV assessment: Classification based on professional experience, publications and participation in projects.
- Final result: The list of approved candidates will be released after the consolidation of the grades from all stages.
Course activities will begin in March 17th, 2025, after the approval of the selection process in February.
