State program of Rio Grande do Sul opens 289 spots in 14 free courses taught by Senac and Senai in Novo Hamburgo, with scholarships of up to R$ 1.5 thousand for completers, prioritizing unemployed individuals, those registered in CadÚnico, and women heads of households with a focus on local employability.
Residents of Novo Hamburgo have until June 3, 2026 to enroll in free courses with scholarships funded by the government of Rio Grande do Sul, with 289 spots distributed across 14 courses taught by Senac and Senai, aimed at meeting the main demands of the local job market.
The opportunities are part of the RS Qualification – Restart program, an initiative of the state government linked to the Rio Grande Plan and funded by the Secretariat of Labor and Professional Development, which aims to qualify unemployed workers or those in economic vulnerability in the state.
In addition to the full gratuity of the courses, the program offers scholarships at the end of the training: those who complete the shorter courses will receive R$ 750, while completers of longer qualifications will be entitled to R$ 1.5 thousand, amounts that seek to compensate for the time dedicated to training.

Federal Institute offers a new opportunity for free qualification for those who have completed high school: there are 30 open spots in free technical courses in Quality and Occupational Safety at IFSULDEMINAS.
The classes take place at the Senac and Senai headquarters in Novo Hamburgo and also at IST Leather and Footwear, located on Avenida Pedro Adams Filho, in the Operário neighborhood, with workloads ranging between 40 and 80 hours depending on the technical complexity of each modality offered in the program.
The courses were selected based on consultations conducted with the Commercial, Industrial and Services Association (ACI-NH), the Chamber of Store Managers (CDL), and Sindilojas, a process that sought to identify the areas with the highest real demand for hiring in the Novo Hamburgo job market.
How registration works and who has priority
Registrations can be made in two ways: in person at the Albano Hartz Cultural Space, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, until June 3, or online through the Novo Hamburgo City Hall website, with a different deadline for this modality, which is only until May 31, 2026.
The filling of spots occurs in order of registration, making it essential to register for the desired course before the spots run out, especially in areas with higher demand, such as sales, customer service, and cashier operator, which tend to have high demand among candidates.
Residents of Novo Hamburgo aged 16 years or older can register, but the notice prioritizes unemployed, jobless individuals, and those registered in CadÚnico, reflecting the social focus of the program on reaching those who most need qualifications to return to the job market.
The program also mandates that at least 50% of the spots be allocated to women who are heads of households, a measure aimed at expanding opportunities for this group, historically more vulnerable to unemployment situations and with greater difficulty accessing professional qualification programs.

The local execution is handled by the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Innovation, which conducted the selection notice, coordinates the registrations, and monitors the program’s progress in partnership with the S System, a management model that combines state resources with the technical structure of Senac and Senai.
For those seeking professional relocation or a first opportunity in the formal market, the RS Qualification program represents a rare combination of free training, certification recognized by the productive sector, and financial support that reduces the opportunity cost of dedicating weeks to qualification.
