During this six-month period in which the flotel will be docked at the Port of Açu, in São João da Barra (RJ), Prosafe will take advantage of this “warm stacking” regime to carry out maintenance operations on the unit.
The flotel had been under contract with Equinor since January, supporting maintenance and safety services on the FPSO Peregrino, in the Campos Basin, off the Brazilian coast.
The flotel was released by Equinor after completing its contractual support activities. The contract lasted 120 days and was on schedule throughout the operation in the quarter.
According to Prosafe, the company did not expect Equinor to extend the contract, as the Norwegian company had the option to extend the agreement until July and did not express interest.
Petrobras Seeks To Renegotiate Prosafe’s Platform Contracts In Brazil
Since the beginning of April, Petrobras has requested Prosafe to agree to the suspension of contracts for the platforms Safe Notos and Safe Eurus for a period of up to 120 days.
Prior to the request, in March, the crew members of both vessels were demobilized and the units were partially hibernated and moved closer to shore.
The Safe Notos has had a contract with Petrobras since early December 2016, while the Safe Eurus provides security and maintenance support to the operator under a three-year contract since November last year.
In addition to the platforms in Brazil under Petrobras’s responsibility, Prosafe is also concerned about keeping its fleet hibernated soon in contracts with Total, Shell, and the Norwegian EnQuest, in the North Sea.
