Solid Power introduced the structure named All-Solid-State. The company, created by Ford and BMW, did not provide many details about the platform, but what is known is that it serves as a base for building batteries, which can also be used in the automotive sector and can accommodate different types of cells.

Besides the batteries manufactured by the company itself, the platform is also compatible with traditional lithium-ion batteries with cobalt and nickel-manganese structures or other batteries without nickel and cobalt.
Words from the CEO about the New Platform
According to the CEO and co-founder of Solid Power, Doug Campbell, the innovation in the technology of the Solid Power platform allows the company to offer a type of solid-state battery for electric cars that meets the performance requirements of various manufacturers in the automotive sector, including the company’s partners like Ford and BMW.
He also states that the company is creating three different types of batteries with different characteristics, offering various alternatives to meet needs.
The Company’s New Plans for Electric Cars
As previously mentioned, the company also works with solid-state batteries, a field in which it has been active since 2017. Currently, the cells have a capacity of up to 2 A when manufactured with standard lithium-ion cell technologies.
The company has several objectives, but its main one is to develop cells with a capacity of 100 A/h by 2022. In a few months, Solid Power will begin the first phase of its new production of solid-state batteries, which is expected to hit the market in 2026.
In 5 years, the company will be able to offer the electric car market a high-density battery with significant safety features, high charging power, and no flammable liquids.
