Foresea Achieves 100% Waste Reuse, Positively Influencing the Offshore Sector on International Zero Waste Day.
In 2024, Foresea not only celebrates a significant milestone in waste reuse but also positions itself as a reference in the offshore sector. Since starting its operations, the company has managed to achieve 100% reuse of the waste generated, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices. This impressive achievement places Foresea at the forefront of corporations that operate with environmental responsibility, aligned with the global goals of International Zero Waste Day celebrated annually by the UN on March 30.
The Organization’s Impact Can Be Felt on Multiple Fronts, as Foresea recycled approximately 1.8 thousand tons of waste. This fact highlights its dedication to the full reuse of the raw materials used. In celebration of International Zero Waste Day, the company reaffirms its promise to continue developing innovative methods that allow for a greener and more sustainable future. With initiatives like this, Foresea is Shaping the Waste Sector, influencing other organizations to follow this exemplary management model.
Sustainability and Innovations in the Offshore Sector
Since 2023, when Foresea took a decisive step in its green strategy, the company has constantly sought unprecedented ways to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. In collaboration with renowned institutes such as the Environmental Technology Institute, the organization measured the concrete benefits of these sustainable practices. In the following year, Foresea achieved a fabulous milestone in waste conversion, inspiring other companies to embrace this collective mission for the good of the planet.

Foresea’s commitment to substantially reducing waste is a crucial step not only for its journey as a company but also for the future of the offshore sector. Innovative reuse strategies create alternative pathways for waste treatment, ensuring that less of it ends up in landfills. Thus, Foresea’s ambition transcends profit, promoting a positive and lasting impact on society.
With increasing recognition, Foresea continues to solidify its status as a powerhouse in sustainability, influencing both internal and external policies. The company is already planning to work more closely with governments and other environmental organizations in the coming year. Experts from the Global Sustainability University pointed out that by adopting such practices, Foresea not only improves its operational efficiency but also rebuilds the relationship between the industrial sector and the environment.
Challenges and Future Perspectives
With a bold vision for the future, Foresea intends to invest in new technologies that will further enhance its environmental commitment. In 2025, the organization already plans to integrate solutions for underwater waste collection. This innovative project promises to minimize waste in the oceans, preserving biodiversity and enriching the marine ecosystem.
While the challenges are considerable, Foresea’s determination and resilience are driving the sector in the right direction. As reported by the Sustainability in Action Magazine, the company’s influence goes far beyond financial results: it is paving the way for more conscious and responsible practices. Undoubtedly, Foresea’s sustainable journey is an example that many other companies aspire to follow, highlighting the importance of each step in the change process.
Foresea’s First Year of Achievements
Foresea enthusiastically celebrates the milestone of its first year of operation, characterized by achieving an impressive rate of 100% in the reuse of waste derived from its operations. This company, which proudly has not sent waste to landfills since 2022, achieved an unprecedented feat in October 2023 in the offshore industry by ensuring the full reuse of every waste generated. From January to December 2024, 1.8 thousand tons of waste were reused.
This volume represents all the waste generated by Foresea throughout the last year in its activities both in the marine environment and on land. During 2024, metals stood out in the reuse process, totaling 558 tons. Wood, in turn, was reused in 136 tons, while plastics reached 59 tons. Additionally, the co-processing of common waste accounted for a contribution of 115 tons.
Investment in Socio-Environmental Programs
All revenue generated from the reuse of these waste, which totaled about R$ 200 thousand last year, was fully directed to Foresea’s socio-environmental programs. These programs focus primarily on investments in Integral Education and the promotion of the Green Economy in the municipality of Macaé, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Celebrating the International Zero Waste Day as the first drilling sector organization to achieve 100% reuse of its waste is a source of great pride. This achievement transcends the creation of a new sustainability standard in the offshore industry, as it significantly contributes to reducing the environmental impact of our operations. We have witnessed a positive effect in the market, with clients and suppliers following our example, as enthusiastically reported by the Vice President of Sustainability, Marco Aurélio Fonseca.
Foresea’s Zero Waste Plan
The goal of achieving Zero Waste was established in 2019. At that time, the unit that would later become Foresea started the Zero Waste project as an integral part of its environmental strategy. After achieving this goal in 2022, the new challenge became the total reuse of waste generated from Foresea’s operations. This objective follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), as well as the UN Global Compact.
To achieve the 100% reuse rate, it was imperative to concentrate efforts on the life cycle stages of waste. This required implementing changes in processes and engaging the company’s partners, who carry out the final disposal of waste, ensuring that the reuse is consistent with the standards of the GRI and the UN Global Compact.
Utilization of Digital Sustainability
The success in implementing the Zero Waste program, culminating in 100% waste reuse, is largely due to the creation of an innovative Digital Sustainability model by Foresea.
Data related to the disposal and reuse of all waste from the units, both on land and at sea, have been integrated into a single dashboard, which is continuously updated. Under the leadership of the Executive Sustainability Manager, Carlos Júnior, this program engaged the organization’s leaders in developing digital intelligence and updating data, conducting customized work in each unit and developing suppliers to adopt these new waste management approaches, thus prioritizing recycling and reuse. In this context, specific indicators were also developed to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the reuse process.
