The Ship-Platform, FPSO Almirante Barroso, Operating in the Búzios Field, in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin, Reached a Historical Milestone in Oil Production, Reaching 150 Thousand Barrels of Oil per Day (BPD) in Less Than Five Months from the First Oil.
The FPSO Almirante Barroso, a ship-platform operating in the Búzios field, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, achieved an impressive milestone, reaching a daily production of 150 thousand barrels of oil in just 146 days. A remarkable feat for the oil exploration industry oil. This achievement, obtained last Tuesday (10/24), is a testament to Petrobras’ commitment to efficiency and the use of advanced technologies.
FPSO Almirante Barroso Ship-Platform Reaches Production of 150 Thousand Barrels of Oil per Day in the Búzios Field, in the Santos Basin
The Almirante Barroso Ship-Platform surpassed all expectations, reaching its maximum production capacity in record time, taking less than five months since the start of production.
The previous record, held by the FPSO P-76, also in the Búzios field, was surpassed, as it took less than eight months to reach its maximum capacity.

The Almirante Barroso platform is of the FPSO type, which stands for Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading Unit.
It began its commercial operations on May 31 of this year and is equipped with cutting-edge technology.
In the project’s subsea system, the installation of rigid pipes incorporated innovative solutions that resulted in a 15% reduction in the average time for well interconnection.
This factor played a crucial role in the record time needed to reach peak production.
The platform, chartered along with Modec, is strategically located 180 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in a water depth of 1,900 meters.
Petrobras is the operator of the Búzios field, holding an 88.99% stake in the shared reservoir, and has CNOOC and CNODC as partners, with 7.34% and 3.67% stakes, respectively.
