MODEC’s FPSO Guanabara MV31 for the Brazilian “pre-salt” reaches First Oil – Imagem MODEC

MODEC currently operates 11 units in Brazil and has another three (3) under construction for the country, namely FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32, FPSO Anita Garibaldi MV33 and an FPSO for Equinor's Bacalhau project.

MODEC announced today (06/05) that the FPSO Guanabara MV31, deployed for operations in the Mero field, in the gigantic “pre-salt” region of the Santos Basin, off the coast of Brazil, reached First Oil Production and began chartering services on May 1, 2022. It is the largest FPSO built by the company to date.

Moored approximately 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of approximately 2.100 meters, the FPSO is capable of processing 180.000 barrels of crude oil, 424 million standard cubic feet of gas and 225.000 barrels of water injection per day, and has a storage capacity of 1.400.000 barrels of crude oil

O FPSO is leased under a 22-year charter contract to Brazilian oil giant Petrobras. This is the 14th FPSO vessel MODEC has delivered to the Brazilian oil and gas industry, as well as MODEC's 7th FPSO in the “pre-salt” region. O FPSO Guanabara MV31 it was designed to reinject 100% of the processed gas back into the oil well.

Currently, the MODEC operates 11 units in Brazil and has another three (3) under construction for the country, namely, the FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32FPSO Anita Garibaldi MV33 and an FPSO for Equinor's Bacalhau project.

The vessel is the third MODEC-operated vessel to start production in recent months. In August 2021, the company started operating the FPSO Carioca MV30 in the Sépia field, also in the “pre-salt” region of the Santos Basin, and in February 2022, production of the FPSO MIAMTE MV34 in the Gulf of Mexico.
