Framework Agreement Provides for Installation of 110 Wind Turbines in 16 Wind Farms of Future Projects in Aragon, Boosting Wind Capacity in the Energy Transition.
GE Vernova is further expanding its presence in Spain by signing a framework agreement with Forestalia to supply 110 turbines of 6.1-158 MW in six phases across 16 sites of future projects in Aragon. With the first phase already underway, this agreement represents a significant step towards the goal of providing more renewable, sustainable, and affordable energy for the country. Vic Abate, Chief Technology Officer of GE and CEO of GE Vernova’s wind segment, commented: ‘We are very pleased to extend our ongoing cooperation with the Forestalia team. ‘This agreement will bring a significant pipeline of new projects by 2024 in Aragon, a region where we have commissioned over 1.5 GW of wind power to date. ‘We are proud to play a key role in driving the energy transition effort of Spain.”
Additionally, the partnership between GE Vernova and Forestalia reached an important milestone in 2022 with the signing of GE’s first European Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at the Coto wind farm in Spain, owned by Forestalia. This agreement will help us take another step toward our goal of reaching 1.2 GW in operation in Forestalia’s directly managed portfolio, benefiting the socioeconomic development of the territory hosting the projects, as well as for greater decarbonization of the economy, commented Fernando Samper, President of Forestalia. With the total installation covered by the framework agreement consisting of 33 turbines with a hub height of 101 meters and 77 turbines with a hub height of 120.9 meters, GE Vernova is solidifying its position as a leader in renewable energy in Spain.
