The WEG Factory That Will Receive the Investment Is Located in the Municipality of Itajaí, Santa Catarina
WEG S.A., a global company in electromechanical equipment, has announced an ambitious investment plan of R$ 87 million to expand its production capacity and strengthen production processes in Itajaí/SC. The company intends to allocate investments to the two new factories in the Santa Catarina municipality, further boosting its operations in the energy and automation market, according to the WEG website.
The investment includes the construction of a modern metalworking shop, dedicated to manufacturing parts, pieces, and enclosures for frequency inverters, soft-starters, and special switches used by machine manufacturers. In addition, the company will build a new factory for sockets and switches, aiming to serve the building infrastructure market, both commercial and residential.
Both facilities will be built in the same industrial park where the company already has factories for electrical centers, dry transformers, and wire drawing. The project, expected to be completed by the end of 2024, aims to strengthen the vertical integration of the company’s production processes, ensuring greater autonomy and efficiency in production.

With the new investments, WEG will significantly expand its built area in Itajaí, creating over 300 new jobs in the next 5 years. Currently, the company employs more than a thousand employees in its operations in the Santa Catarina city.
