General Motors Is Investing to Provide All Its Customers with a Kit That Can Transform Combustion Cars into Electric Cars
General Motors recently announced that it will expand electrification to an unprecedented level, going beyond the launch of new electric cars. The brand aims to offer a wide range of options for converting old combustion cars, boats, and other vehicles. According to a GM statement, this approach will allow the company to broaden its reach to a larger and more diverse group of customers, helping businesses meet the high demand for technology that does not emit gases while achieving their own sustainability goals.

According to the GM statement, these solutions will hit the market next year.

In the future, the company intends to install the latest technology for electric cars, regardless of battery generation or chemistry, to electrify a wide range of applications across various segments.
According to Hester, all the company’s customers will benefit from GM’s vast network of resources, experience, and support as an innovator on the path to electrification.
As General Motors advances its Ultium Platform and other technologies focused on emission neutrality, it will anticipate smaller, more flexible, and affordable components and offerings over time.
Conversion Will Not Be Restricted to Just Combustion Cars
As mentioned earlier, the conversion plan will not be limited to just combustion cars. In the Ground Support Equipment sector, the company will offer conversion kits to electrify vehicles in the airport segment, for example.
The company’s strategy also covers Marine Propulsion, a sector where General Motors has invested in purchasing shares of Pure Watercraft, a startup specializing in zero-emission maritime transport. The aim is to create and market a line of battery-electric boats.
Finally, the offensive also includes goals for the Hydrotec division for hydrogen-powered planes and BrightDrop, which is responsible for commercial vehicle operations.
