The first images released show a minivan with a very aerodynamic profile. The front uses a lighting signature divided into three segments and a separate optical set, following the visual identity adopted by the new generation of Leapmotor vehicles.
Another detail that draws attention is the presence of sliding side doors with hidden tracks. This solution helps create a cleaner and more sophisticated appearance, a feature increasingly common among Chinese premium minivans.

The 115 kWh battery places the D99 among the largest electric minivans on the market
Leapmotor intends to offer the D99 in two main configurations. The first will be fully electric and will use a 1,000-volt architecture, combined with a CATL Freevoy 115 kWh battery. According to information released by the brand, this version can reach about 720 kilometers of range in the Chinese cycle.
The second configuration will be of the EREV type, that is, electric with a range extender. In this case, the vehicle will use a 80.3 kWh CATL battery associated with a combustion engine that acts as a generator to power the electric system. The declared electric range is around 500 kilometers.
Even considering differences between Chinese and international measurement cycles, the numbers place the D99 among the most ambitious electrified minivans on the market.
Artificial intelligence chips promise to transform the onboard experience
Leapmotor is not betting solely on electrification. According to information released by carnewschina, the D99 will use two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 processors, responsible for the vehicle’s intelligent systems. Together, they deliver a computational capacity of approximately 1,280 TOPS, a measure used to evaluate performance in artificial intelligence.
The brand claims that this capacity will allow support for large language models and advanced assisted driving functions.
This means that the vehicle will be able to use increasingly sophisticated systems for navigation, environment recognition, and interaction with occupants.
The rear lighting uses more than 8,000 LEDs
Another curious detail appears at the rear. The D99 uses a continuous light bar formed by approximately 8,260 LEDs, creating a very distinctive visual signature at night.
This type of solution has become common in luxury Chinese vehicles in recent years, but Leapmotor has taken the concept to an even more sophisticated level.

Air suspension and variable damping reinforce the focus on comfort
