Regarding Eletrobras, its capitalization is expected to increase from R$ 3.5 billion to R$ 12.5 billion/year, in addition to a whole scheme for valuing the campaign shares, according to the government secretary Mac Cord.
“By December of this year, Eletrobras will be privatized. It is necessary to remember that the approval of the bill regarding privatization depends on a simple majority in Congress. Furthermore, the privatization model provides for the allocation of about R$ 10 billion from the grant concessions for public policy programs in the North and Northeast, such as the revitalization of the São Francisco River Valley, which should help local development. It is a very positive agenda”, said the secretary.

Investments in Eletrobras and Correios
According to government secretary Mac Cord, there will be an increase in the volume of investments after the privatization of Eletrobras, which is already expected to rise from R$ 3.5 billion to R$ 12.5 billion, as previously mentioned. The secretary stated that “this will have a positive effect on the country’s economy as a whole, since it will stimulate, for example, the construction market. The estimate is that more than 40,000 jobs will be generated in the sector”.
Regarding Correios, Mac Cord said: “Fabio Farias, Minister of Communications, should personally deliver the bill to Congress soon, in the coming weeks. This is another privatization that we will complete this year. Everything is well on track, including the BNDES studies on the privatization alternatives progressing rapidly.”
