Also present at the time of signing the contract were local authorities and representatives of the company Coesa Construções e Montagens, which will be responsible for the work plan.
The project aims to ensure greater growth for the market in the Missões region of Rio Grande do Sul and, according to the Federal Government's forecast, should be delivered in about two and a half years.
The Brazilian investment for the business will be R$ 220 million, to guarantee safety and logistic quality on the bridge that will be an alternative to the crossings located in Uruguaiana and São Borja.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Marcelo Sampaio Cunha Filho, should appear in the city of Porto Xavier during the next week to sign the work order for the start of construction of the bridge and deal with national investment.
He stated that the work will begin in 2023, aiming to contribute to the Rio Grande do Sul market: “The Missões region has been waiting for this bridge for over a decade. Today, we have the projects ready and we are going to start the works next year, so that we can connect another region with Argentina, which will greatly develop the Missions region”.
The construction project for the new bridge has been circulating in the National Congress for some years, but should be completed by 2026
Although it is in acceleration at the moment, the bridge project between Porto Xavier and San Javier has been circling the National Congress for some years now.
In 2017, an investment of BRL 81 million was allocated to the project. However, in 2018, R$ 56 million were reallocated to the duplication of BR-116, between Guaíba and Pelotas.
The construction of the bridge then seems difficult to be carried out, but the mayor of Santo Ângelo, Jacques Barbosa, who is president of the Association of Municipalities of Missions (AMM), believes that the situation has changed in the current market.
He said that the current bidding already has all the licenses and the executive project for the construction of the bridge, thus ensuring it is easier to carry it out.
The executive also pointed out that the bridge will allow the flow of grains through the ports here in Argentina, around 250 kilometers from here.
In this way, the millionaire investment by the National Government will bear fruit in the Rio Grande do Sul market over the next few years.
