Project aims to improve thermal comfort and the learning environment, benefiting thousands of students in warmer regions of the state

In an effort to transform learning conditions in public schools, the government of São Paulo, through Secretary of Education (Seduc), allocated a significant amount of R $ million 300 in the last two years to equip the state schools with systems of air conditioning.

This investment not only represents a change in the physical environment of schools, but symbolizes a commitment to improving educational quality for students and teachers across the state.

Project impact and expansion

Since the project began, the number of schools with air-conditioned classrooms has increased dramatically from just 9 by 595 units. This progress is just the beginning, as the target set by the government is much more ambitious.

By the end of 2025, it is expected that more 1.000 schools benefit from the installation of air conditioning, creating a more comfortable learning environment conducive to students’ intellectual and emotional development.

Focus on the warmest regions

The implementation of this air conditioning project was strategically planned to initially serve the regions most affected by intense heat.

The areas of Barretos, Franca, Ribeirao Preto e São José do Rio Preto, known for their high temperatures, were prioritized. Currently, these regions already have 182 schools with systems of air conditioning, What represents 39,3% of air-conditioned units.

This strategic choice aims to mitigate the adverse effects of excessive heat, which can impair students' concentration and performance.

Execution stages and objectives sought with the project

The air conditioning Taj state schools of São Paulo is being implemented in carefully planned phases. This approach allows the areas with the greatest need to be addressed first, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently.

In addition to improving thermal comfort, the project also seeks to increase the satisfaction and motivation of students, who now study in more pleasant and healthy environments.

Commitment to quality education

The investment of government of São Paulo in the air conditioning of schools highlights an ongoing commitment to improving educational infrastructure.

The installation of systems air conditioning not only improves thermal comfort, but also promotes a healthier and more motivating environment for students and teachers.

Studies have shown that suitable learning environments can positively influence students’ academic performance, school attendance and even mental health.

Long-term benefits

In the long term, this air conditioning project can bring countless benefits to the educational community of São Paulo.

In addition to improving academic performance, the initiative can contribute to reducing school dropout rates, as students tend to attend classes more in comfortable environments.

Additionally, teachers also benefit from a more pleasant working environment, which can increase job satisfaction and productivity.

Final considerations

With this initiative, the government of São Paulo is not only improving the physical conditions of schools, but also investing in the future of young citizens of São Paulo.

Climate-controlled schools are a vital step in ensuring that all students have access to a learning environment that supports their academic and personal growth.

This project clearly demonstrates the government's determination to advance the quality of public education, using air conditioning as a tool to create more welcoming and efficient schools, aligned with the contemporary needs of students and educators.
