Accelerating The Expansion Of Natural Gas, Energisa Joins Regulators, Customers, And Strategic Partners In Espírito Santo.
The Energisa Group announced new investments focused on expanding natural gas distribution in Espírito Santo, following the acquisition of ES Gás. Ricardo Botelho, CEO of the Group, expressed his decision to accelerate the investment plans already approved for the cycle between August 2020 and July 2025 by the State Regulatory Agency for Public Services (ARSP), with a planned investment of R$ 160 million during this period.
Expansion At Full Throttle In 2024
With the acceleration plan set to begin in January 2024, additional details will be disclosed and submitted for approval to regulatory agencies in the coming months. In addition to this project, ES Gás plans to support significant initiatives in partnership with the state government to develop a gas-chemical hub and create a major center for the flow, transportation, distribution, storage, and consumption of natural gas in the state.
“Espírito Santo is a privileged state to host strong growth in the natural gas market and lead this segment in Brazil, thanks to its mature regulatory framework, strong logistical capabilities, and the possession of the 3rd largest gas reserve in the country,” says Botelho.

Extraordinary Potential And Exponential Growth
Currently, ES Gás supplies approximately 2.2 million cubic meters of natural gas daily to various sectors – industrial, residential, commercial, thermal, and vehicular. Botelho adds: “The capacity for expansion of the natural gas market in Espírito Santo is extraordinary, with a potential market estimated to be 11 times greater in the residential segment, 5 times in commercial, 1.3 times in industrial, and 5 times in vehicular.”
With nearly 120 years of experience in the energy distribution market, the Energisa Group aims to boost the development of the state and increase competitiveness and economy for customers. The acquisition of ES Gás by the Group is part of a larger strategy to diversify the company’s portfolio and opens a new growth avenue through the distribution of natural gas.
