Previous Investments by Heineken
Last year, Heineken invested R$ 1.8 billion in the construction of a new beer factory in Passos (MG) and R$ 320 million in the factories of Jacareí and Araraquara (SP). In 2020, the group invested R$ 865 million to expand the Ponta Grossa (PR) factory.
With the expansion of its northeast factories, Heineken is also expected to create new job positions. The company did not disclose how many jobs will be opened in the northeast but has already indicated that hiring will especially seek qualified labor. The company also stated that it intends to establish partnerships with state institutions for professional training.
Market Impact
The expansion of Heineken’s units in the northeast will bring significant impacts to the beer market in the country. With an increasingly competitive market, the brewery seeks to strengthen its presence in one of the most promising regions of the country, the northeast. Additionally, the increase in production capacity of the northeast factory may be a response to the growing demand for alcoholic beverages during the pandemic, when the consumption of beers and other beverages at home became more frequent.
Heineken’s investments in the breweries of Igarassu and Alagoinhas represent a great opportunity for the company to expand its presence in the Brazilian market and reinforce its sustainability policy. Thus
