Ceará Attracts Various Investments From Lightsource BP
In addition to the recent announcement that the Milagres Solar Complex Energy Generation Ltd. plant would be installed, in mid-October Lightsource announced that it would also implement the Abaiara Solar Complex, in the Cariri region, also in the state of Ceará, with an estimated investment of R$ 77.8 million, partially funded by the FDNE and the remainder by private initiative.
With a total investment also of R$ 782 million, there will be five solar parks in Cariri, which will generate 2,800 jobs in the region. The fund managed by Sudene will be responsible for financing R$ 422.9 million of the total to be applied in the Abaiara solar complex.
Although the solar power park in Cariri was announced first, the estimate for the start of its construction is set for mid-2022.
Project Development To ‘Escape’ The Energy Crisis
Sudene has been strengthening various projects of this kind as a way to try to alleviate the energy crisis currently experienced in Brazil. In 2020, according to the latest Sudene balance, around R$ 8 billion in funding was released for numerous renewable energy park implementation projects throughout the Northeast region.
Lightsource BP, one of the largest developers and implementers of solar energy projects in Europe, arrived in Brazil to implement its valuable projects, aiming to identify the best and most strategic regions to build solar power parks.
The company’s portfolio includes over 300 large-scale solar projects delivered since 2010 worldwide.
In addition to the high job generation during and after the completion of the works, the construction of the solar complex in the region is a significant advancement, as Bahia is currently a pioneer in supplying solar energy and renewable energies.
With the implementation of solar power parks in Ceará, the region gains attention from other investors, attracting more sources of job and income generation for the area. Additionally, it opens up space for projects such as green hydrogen generation and distribution to be implemented in the State.
