The Boeing 737-200 Plane Purchased In A Virtual Auction After Vasp’s Bankruptcy Was Transported Dismantled, Reassembled In Six Months And Today Attracts Visitors In A Farm On The Sidelines Of GO-330

The plane parked in a farm in Urutaí, in southwestern Goiás, was bought online in 2014, dismantled in Brasília, and reassembled in six months, becoming an attraction open for visitation on the sidelines of GO-330.

The story gained recent attention after videos published on social media by doctor and pilot Benjamim Neto, son of the owner Ailton Martins de Oliveira, went viral.

In the footage shared by Benjamim Neto on his social media, the Boeing 737-200 is seen parked in the backyard of the farm, sparking curiosity among drivers passing by the highway.

The plane weighs about 35 tons and belongs to the family, which has shared a passion for aviation for generations, according to explanations given in the videos.

Purchase Made In A Virtual Auction

The acquisition took place in an online auction after the bankruptcy of the airline Vasp, which ceased operations in 2005 and had its aircraft auctioned off.

In an interview with reporter Jordana Rafaela from the newspaper O Popular, Ailton Martins explained that he chose the aircraft that was closest for logistical reasons.

According to Ailton, there were options in cities such as Manaus and Belém, but the transportation cost would make moving it unfeasible for the family.

The chosen plane was in Brasília, which facilitated the planning for road transport to the farm located in Urutaí.

Transport And Assembly Of The Giant

To bring the Boeing to Goiás, the aircraft needed to be dismantled and transported in two trucks, as reported by Benjamim Neto.

On one truck, the wings were transported, while the fuselage, a term used to define the body of the plane, was carried on the other.

After its arrival at the farm, the entire reassembly process was necessary, respecting the original structure of the aircraft.

The interval between dismantling in Brasília and reassembling in Urutaí was approximately six months, according to the family.

International History Of The Aircraft

The Boeing 737-200 is a conventional model for domestic flights, capable of carrying up to 100 passengers on regular operations.

With a length of 32 meters, the plane no longer flies, but has a history of international operations, as reported by Benjamim.

Before joining Vasp’s fleet, the aircraft had already operated for airlines from Canada, Germany, Denmark, and Nauru.

Nauru is an island located in Oceania, which adds to the international history of the plane now parked in Goiás.

Relics Preserved Inside

According to Benjamim Neto, the plane is well-preserved and retains original operational items, including a black box and pilot checklist.

Inside, there are also original bags from the airline, a service cart, and even remnants of kerosene.

The prefix PP-SPH remains engraved above the aircraft’s door, reinforcing its operational identity during the time it was active.

These details are presented in the videos shared on Benjamim Neto’s social media, cited as the source of the information.

Open Visitation And Future Plans

Currently, visitation to the plane is open to tourists, although the farm is a private property closed to the general public.

According to Ailton, the farm is about 1.2 kilometers from the pavement, allowing the plane to be seen by those passing by on GO-330.

The family’s goal is to build a restaurant on-site, integrating the Boeing into a permanent exhibition area.

The expectation is that the space will be inaugurated this year, consolidating the plane as a tourist spot in Urutaí, with better infrastructure for visitors.
