According to information from the Jornal Opção, the Public Ministry of Goiás (MPGO) signed an agreement of R$ 243 thousand with businessman Ivo Loxe de Mattos due to the illegal deforestation of more than 56 hectares of native vegetation on a farm in the rural area of Água Fria de Goiás.
The term was signed by the 1st Prosecutor’s Office of Justice of Planaltina, after the conclusion of a civil inquiry conducted by prosecutor José Soares Júnior.

It seemed like just a mansion swallowed by weeds, but it hid a surreal collection with a dusty Ferrari F355, crowded garages, old tractors, abandoned boats, and dozens of cars rotting in silence.
According to the MPGO, the businessman carried out the “irregular suppression of native vegetation,” a term used to describe the removal of plants and trees from the local biome without environmental authorization.
The infraction was confirmed by the Secretariat of the Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad), which issued infraction notices after confirming the deforestation.
Agreement Provides for Recovery and Environmental Compensation
Under the agreement, the businessman acknowledged the environmental damage and committed to recovering the affected areas through a Degraded Area Recovery Plan (Prad), a document that guides replanting and proper soil management.
Additionally, he will donate more than 120 hectares of native forest to the municipality of São Domingos. This area will be used to create or expand a conservation unit.
The payment of R$ 243,384.68 will be divided into 48 monthly installments, with interest of 1% per month and monetary correction.
The amount will be allocated to the Environmental Military Police Battalion of Goiás, responsible for enforcement actions and combating environmental crimes.
Commitment to Preservation
According to prosecutor José Soares Júnior, the agreement reinforces the commitment of the Public Ministry to strengthen the environmental protection system.
He stated that it is crucial for those responsible for damages to nature to assume the consequences of their actions.
Therefore, in addition to punishing, the agreement seeks to restore ecological balance and ensure effective reparation of the degraded areas.
