New Honda Compact SUV Arrives at the End of 2025 with Electrified Powertrain, Greater Interior Space, and Advanced Technology
Honda has confirmed the launch of the Honda WR-V 2026 in Brazil, scheduled for the last quarter of 2025. The model, which will be produced locally, aims to compete in the compact SUV market, directly facing the Toyota Yaris Cross.
With an updated design and hybrid powertrain options, the WR-V promises to deliver more energy efficiency, safety, and onboard technology. Its dimensions have also been increased, offering greater interior space and a generous trunk, features that meet Brazilian consumer demand for versatile vehicles.
Updated Design and More Interior Space
The new WR-V will adopt a more robust visual language, with a redesigned front grille, full LED headlights, and new alloy wheels. The body has larger proportions, ensuring more comfort for passengers. At 4.31 meters long, 1.79 meters wide, and with a wheelbase of 2.65 meters, the model stands out as one of the most spacious compact SUVs in its category.

Engine of the Honda WR-V 2026: Gasoline and Hybrid Versions

Honda has confirmed that the new WR-V will arrive in Brazil with two powertrain options. The first will be the traditional 1.5 naturally aspirated flex engine, delivering 126 hp of power and 15.8 kgfm of torque, coupled with a CVT transmission. The hybrid version, combining a 1.5 engine with two electric motors, emerges as an option aimed at greater fuel economy and better energy efficiency.
The introduction of hybrid versions is part of Honda’s global strategy, which aims to electrify part of its fleet by 2030. This bet aims to meet a growing demand for more sustainable vehicles, in addition to ensuring competitiveness against major rivals in the segment.
Technology and Safety Equipment
The WR-V 2026 will feature a more sophisticated and technologically advanced interior. The multimedia center will have a next-generation floating screen, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. The dashboard will have higher quality materials, with rubberized finishes and chrome details in the more complete versions.
In terms of safety, the model will come equipped with the Honda Sensing package, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning. These technologies are already present in the brand’s more expensive models and now reach the compact SUV segment to enhance the safety of occupants.
Market Positioning and Competition
The Honda WR-V 2026 will be positioned below the HR-V, with prices estimated between R$ 120,000 and R$ 150,000, depending on the version. Its main competitors in the Brazilian market will be:
- Toyota Yaris Cross – direct rival, also with hybrid versions and a technology-focused proposal.
- Renault Kardian – Renault’s new bet for the segment, seeking to win over customers with more connectivity.
- Volkswagen Nivus – one of the best-selling SUVs in Brazil, with a sporty design and turbo engine.
- Fiat Pulse – Fiat’s option with strong cost-benefit appeal and good market acceptance.
Honda’s expectation is that the WR-V will achieve a sales volume higher than the HR-V, which closed the last year with 50,375 units sold.
