Rondônia Tourist Transferred R$ 18,000 by Mistake When Paying R$ 20 for Photo; Bahian Realized, Returned Everything, and Surprised
An episode of honesty surprised residents and tourists in the Historic Center of Salvador. The 63-year-old Bahian from the Reasilvia reception received a Pix of R$ 18,000 when the agreement with a visitor was only R$ 20 for the traditional photo. Upon noticing the mistake, she decided to return it immediately.
“I was shocked, my son,” she said in an interview. After more than 30 years in the role, she only realized the amount hours later, when checking her account statement.
The Mistake of the In a Hurry Tourist
On the other side was nurse Giani Rebouças from Rondônia. In a hurry to get to the airport, she sent R$ 2 and then tried to complete it with R$ 18. However, she typed three extra zeros and mistakenly transferred a fortune.

According to Giani, the rush of the moment contributed to the mistake. “I didn’t even remember making the Pix,” she later revealed.
The Search for a Solution
Even without experience with banking apps, Reasilvia did not settle. She asked her son-in-law for help and set out to resolve the situation.
The two went through a police station, a tourism police office, and a bank agency, receiving guidance to wait for contact from the account holder.
Determined, they managed to locate the nurse and returned the full amount. The money returned through the same transfer app.
An Emotional Ending and Promise
In the end, the Bahian received only R$ 2 for the photo and also covered R$ 10 for parking of the car used in the return mission.
The tourist was moved by the gesture. “This shows that there are still good people,” she stated. She promised to make it right by sending the R$ 18 owed for the service and preparing a thank-you gift.
“She deserves it,” Giani added, highlighting the trust that the act of honesty inspired.
