Thus, Huawei, which once dominated this sector in China, saw its situation head in the opposite direction during the same period. Its share previously stood at 72% in the third quarter of 2022, and in the same period of 2024, it is at 52%. It is still a strong share, but if this trend continues, Apple’s dominance may change drastically in the coming years.

What is happening with Huawei is fundamentally due to its success in China, where the brand has seemingly become a true case of national overcoming. The ban imposed by Google in 2019 seemed to spell the end for a smartphone division, but the company managed to turn the situation around, focusing on the Chinese market and freeing itself from dependencies that previously tied it to American companies. The result is evident, and the brand shines again in the premium phone segment, at least in China.

New Operating System Can Run Android Apps

Launched with the promise of being a fully independent operating system from Android, HarmonyOS Next attracted public attention by running applications from the rival system. According to reports from beta users, despite having a completely unique language and a host of differences from Google’s Android, the launch of an emulator completely changed the landscape.

Listed in the AppGallery store, “EzsyAbroad” is an Android emulator that allows users to install any application from the system within HarmonyOS Next. This novelty was discovered this weekend.

To ensure everything operates almost natively, the app has a separate container for Android applications. Thus, when the app is installed, it allows users to download YouTube, Google Maps, and others through a specific store.

An essential detail is that the emulator creates shortcuts for these Android apps on the system’s home screen, allowing them to run in the background and send notifications like native system apps.
