Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz costs about R$ 78,500 in Indonesia and reveals a 7-seater minivan absent from Brazil.
Hyundai sells a family minivan in Indonesia that could potentially shake up a segment that is practically abandoned in Brazil. The model is called Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz and appears in the Indonesian market as a 7-seater MPV, with a 1.5 aspirated engine, manual or IVT transmission, and advanced safety package in the more expensive versions. The official price starts at 276,100,000 Indonesian rupiahs for the Trend MT version, according to Hyundai Mobil Indonesia’s price list. Based on the exchange rate consulted, where 1 real is equivalent to about 3,514.71 rupiahs, the direct conversion is approximately R$ 78,500, without Brazilian taxes, freight, importation, homologation, or national margin. Calculation: 276,100,000 ÷ 3,514.71 = R$ 78,557.
In Brazil, the Chevrolet Spin starts at R$ 119,900, the Citroën Aircross starts at R$ 119,990, and the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is advertised starting at R$ 196,990. In other words, in direct conversion, the Stargazer Cartenz costs much less than the three family models sold here.
Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz sold in Indonesia combines the proposal of a family minivan with the converted price of a Brazilian compact car
The Stargazer Cartenz is positioned by Hyundai as an MPV made for families in Indonesia. The model is below the Stargazer Cartenz X, has a high body, a cabin with three rows, and an official starting price of Rp 276.1 million on the OTR Jakarta price list.

Fiat Strada Turbo addresses the lack of power in the 1.3 versions with an engine of up to 130 hp, CVT transmission, and Sport mode, but evaluation reveals that the best-selling pickup truck in Brazil could still offer better braking, a larger screen, and more comfort for rear passengers.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder arrives with a 115 hp 1.5 hybrid engine, e-Drive transmission, and a declared fuel consumption of 27.97 km/l, more economical than Corolla Cross, Creta, T-Cross, and Compass in Brazil; the affordable SUV showcases a compact, modern, and economical Toyota that Brazilians can only find at dealerships in India.

Price of the cheapest electric car in Brazil drops from R$ 142,000 to R$ 65,000 after a 54% depreciation in just three years; Renault Kwid E-Tech offers up to 298 km of urban range and has become a surprise in the used car market.

Few people know, but using only the “D” gear in an automatic transmission on hills can accelerate transmission wear and increase risks on downhill slopes — are you driving the wrong way without realizing it?
The price range goes up to Rp 358.3 million for the Prime HSS IVT version. Even this top configuration, in direct conversion, is close to R$ 101,900, still below most of the 7-seater family models sold in Brazil.
The comparison is striking because Brazil has few accessible family models with three rows. The Spin remains one of the rare options below R$ 130,000, while 7-seater SUVs are already moving into much higher price ranges.
1.5 Smartstream engine, manual or IVT transmission, and 205 mm ground clearance form the technical set of the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz
The official technical sheet reports a Smartstream G1.5 MPI engine, four-cylinder inline, with 1,497 cm³, power of 84.4 kW, or 115 PS, at 6,300 rpm, and torque of 143.8 Nm, equivalent to 14.7 kgfm, at 4,500 rpm.

The transmission can be 6-speed manual in the entry-level versions or IVT in the automatic configurations. The drive is front-wheel, with McPherson front suspension, CTBA torsion rear axle, C-MDPS electric steering, and ventilated disc front brakes.
In terms of dimensions, the Stargazer Cartenz measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, 2,780 mm in wheelbase, and a height of 1,695 mm or 1,710 mm, depending on the wheel set. The ground clearance of 205 mm is high for a minivan and brings the model closer to the visual appeal of crossovers.
Hyundai 7-seater minivan features three rows, rear air conditioning, and captain seat option in higher versions
The model is presented in the Indonesian market as a 7-seater MPV, with manual and IVT versions. The family configuration is reinforced by the offer of three rows and the declared luggage capacity of 585 liters behind the second row and 185 liters behind the third row, according to the technical sheet.
Hyundai also reports rear air conditioning, front and rear USB-C ports in versions above the basic one, an 8-inch multimedia center in the Trend and Style versions, and a 10.25-inch screen in the Smart HSS and Prime HSS versions.

Another important detail is the option of captain seat in the second row in the Style, Smart HSS, and Prime HSS versions. This type of configuration replaces the bench seat with two individual seats, a common feature in Asian minivans and rare in cheap family models sold in Brazil.
Hyundai SmartSense Package adds driving assistants to a family minivan that does not appear in the Brazilian configurator
In the Smart HSS and Prime HSS versions, the Stargazer Cartenz receives the Hyundai SmartSense package, with lane keeping alert and assistance, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beam, and smart cruise control with Stop & Go.
The Prime HSS version also adds front side and curtain airbags, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, automatic air conditioning, and front parking sensors. Meanwhile, the simpler versions maintain front airbags, ABS, multimedia system, and basic safety items.
In Brazil, Hyundai’s official configurator lists models like HB20, HB20S, and Creta, but does not include the Stargazer as a purchase option. This highlights the contrast between the family lineup sold in Indonesia and the brand’s Brazilian portfolio.

The strongest point of the Stargazer Cartenz is not just the converted price. It is the fact that Hyundai sells a modern family minivan outside of Brazil, with 7 seats, a 1.5 engine, three rows, high ground clearance, and ADAS — precisely the type of car that has become increasingly rare in Brazilian dealerships.
