The feature had already appeared in other countries and is now available for testing in Brazil, as noted in version 2.24.22.4 of the Beta of the Android messenger. But don’t worry, it won’t read your conversations with that crush or family group — at least, that’s what Meta assured.

Delayed Arrival and Expectations
Although other countries have been enjoying Meta AI since July, Brazil was initially left out due to a conflict between Meta and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), which questioned the use of user data to train AI models. However, after the ANPD lifted the restrictions at the end of August, the way was cleared for the tool to finally reach Brazil.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made it clear that the goal is to make Meta AI the most widely used globally AI assistant by the end of the year. An ambitious goal, but not impossible, considering the pace at which Meta’s AI has been gaining ground on popular platforms like WhatsApp.
