Starting this Friday (07), drivers traveling on important highways in the interior of São Paulo should be aware of a new feature aimed at increasing road safety.

Significant changes will occur on busy stretches, directly impacting the routine of those who use these roads.

The concessionaire EcoNoroeste announced the activation of ten new speed cameras on stretches under its administration, as published in the Official State Journal of São Paulo on January 31.

These devices are distributed across the Washington Luís highways (SP-310), Carlos Tonanni (SP-333), and Laurentino Mascari (SP-333), with speed limits ranging between 80 km/h and 110 km/h, depending on the stretch and type of vehicle.

Location of the New Speed Cameras

Washington Luís Highway (SP-310)

Km 235+470m: North lane, heading São Carlos-Ibaté, in São Carlos. Maximum speed: 90 km/h for light and heavy vehicles.
Km 259+350m: North lane, heading Ibaté-Araraquara, in Araraquara. Maximum speed: 80 km/h for light and heavy vehicles.
Km 260+700m: South lane, heading Araraquara-São Carlos, in Araraquara. Maximum speed: 80 km/h for light and heavy vehicles.
Km 375+970m: North lane, heading Santa Adélia-Catanduva, in Pindorama. Maximum speed: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.
Km 412+000m: North lane, heading Catiguá-Cedral, in Uchoa. Maximum speed: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Carlos Tonanni Highway (SP-333)

Km 88+800m: East lane, heading Jaboticabal-Sertãozinho, in Sertãozinho. Maximum speed: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.
Km 96+640m: West lane, heading Sertãozinho-Jaboticabal, in Sertãozinho. Maximum speed: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.
Km 97+870m: East lane, heading Jaboticabal-Sertãozinho, in Barrinha. Maximum speed: 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Laurentino Mascari Highway (SP-333)

Km 168+710m: East lane, heading Itápolis-Taquaritinga, in Itápolis. Maximum speed: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles.
Km 173+650m: East lane, heading Itápolis-Taquaritinga, in Itápolis. Maximum speed: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Continuous Expansion

These new speed cameras are part of a broader project by EcoNoroeste, which plans to install 45 devices along the highways under its concession.

Since January 10, 2025, 28 cameras are already in operation, aiming to monitor and control vehicle speed, with the goal of reducing accidents and increasing user safety.

Installation Criteria

The choice of locations for the installation of the cameras was based on detailed mapping of areas with the highest severity and fatality rates in traffic accidents.

The São Paulo State Transportation Agency (ARTESP) and the São Paulo State Department of Highways (DER-SP) previously approved these strategic points.

Information for Drivers

To ensure that drivers are aware of the new enforcement measures, EcoNoroeste carried out extensive prior publicity, using signs, banners, and Variable Message Panels (VMPs) along the highways.

About EcoNoroeste

EcoNoroeste is a concessionaire of the EcoRodovias group, responsible for managing five highways in the interior of São Paulo.

The company began operations in 2023, managing the Washington Luís (SP-310), Brigadeiro Faria Lima (SP-326), and Carlos Tonanni highways, as well as Nemésio Cadetti, Laurentino Mascari, and Dr. Mário Gentil (SP-333). In 2025, EcoNoroeste will take over the management of an additional 158 kilometers of roads.

The implementation of these new speed cameras reflects a growing trend in the state of São Paulo to use technology to enhance road safety.

According to data from the Department of Highways (DER-SP), rear-end collisions caused by speeding account for about 30% of accidents on São Paulo highways.
