Fire Destroys Effa Factory in Amazon, Halts Car Production and Mobilizes 148 Firefighters. Learn Which Vehicles Were Produced.

A large fire broke out between Tuesday afternoon (08/05/2025) and Wednesday morning (08/06/2025) at the Effa Motors factory located in District Industrial 2, in the East Zone of Manaus, Amazonas.

The fire nearly completely consumed the warehouse where utility vehicles of the brand were produced, used primarily in areas with restrictions on larger vehicles.

According to the Fire Department, over 140 professionals were mobilized to contain the flames, which threatened to spread to neighboring buildings.

The factory destroyed by the fire produced cars such as the V21, V22 pickup trucks and the V25 van—models used for urban goods transportation, which could also be adapted for other functions like food trucks, thermal boxes, and glass holders.

The incident, in addition to directly impacting Effa’s production in Brazil, generated a huge cloud of toxic smoke, requiring quick action from authorities to prevent further damage.

Fire at Effa Factory Mobilizes 148 Firefighters in Manaus

The fire started around noon on Tuesday (08/05/2025), according to reports from Effa employees. According to workers on the assembly line, sparks from a welding operation may have ignited a flammable chemical product, starting a fire that quickly spread.

The fire is confined to the part that is burned. It won’t spread further. Only the southern part has not been affected. But the rest of the warehouse has been affected. Now, those on the other side of the street are all protected. It cannot reach other warehouses. So we will work on this confinement and future control,” explained Colonel Borges, deputy commander of the Amazonas Fire Department. He also stated that other nearby warehouses were protected, preventing an even greater disaster.

Although initially authorities reported no victims, one employee later arrived at the Burn Treatment Center of Hospital 28 de Agosto. Her health status is stable.

Company Regrets the Fire and Focuses on Employee Safety

In an official statement, Effa Motors expressed sorrow for the incident and stated that investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing. The company’s priority, according to the statement, is to ensure the physical integrity of its employees and cooperate with authorities.

“Fortunately, so far there are no reports of serious injuries, which brings us relief amidst the seriousness of the situation,” the company stated.
“We ask everyone who supports us, partners, customers, suppliers, and friends, to unite with us in prayers.”

According to the manufacturer, new information will only be released through the company’s official channels.

The Cars of Effa Produced at the Factory Destroyed by the Fire

The Effa factory in Manaus was responsible for producing four main models of utility vehicles:

  • V21 Pickup
  • V21 Box Pickup
  • V22 Pickup
  • V25 Van

These small vehicles are popular among small business owners and merchants who need alternatives for urban transportation. The models shared the same mechanical setup: a 1.5 gasoline engine with 112 horsepower, 14 kgfm of torque, and a five-speed manual transmission. The performance is similar to vehicles with a 1.0 turbo engine.

Despite variations in body style, all models featured basic amenities such as air conditioning, power steering, power windows, and a multimedia center.

Versatility of Vehicles Destroyed by the Fire

The Effa cars destroyed by the fire in the Amazon stood out for their flexibility of use. With a payload capacity of up to 1,500 kg, the pickups could be adapted for a variety of purposes, from deliveries to specialized structures like food trucks or transporting delicate materials.

Among the technical specifications, the highlights are:

V21 / V21 Box Pickup / V22

  • Length: 4.84 m
  • Height: 1.90 m
  • Width: 1.63 m
  • Wheelbase: 3.05 m
  • Average Consumption: 11.5 km/l in the city and 12.7 km/l on the highway
  • Payload Capacity: 1,500 kg

V25 Van

  • Length: 4.40 m
  • Height: 1.92 m
  • Width: 1.63 m
  • Wheelbase: 2.85 m
  • Payload Capacity: 1,100 kg

Although exact prices are not listed on Effa’s official website, dealerships report prices ranging from R$ 94,990 to R$ 119,990, depending on the model and configuration chosen.

And Now? Effects of the Fire on Effa’s Production

With the factory consumed by fire, Effa’s car production in Brazil is temporarily halted. The company has yet to announce a contingency plan or industrial repositioning. This may affect not only the delivery of new vehicles but also the supply of parts and technical assistance.

In addition to the direct impact on production, the fire at Effa’s factory raises concerns about industrial safety standards, especially in the automotive sector, where handling flammable materials requires maximum attention.
