The Federal Institute of Southern Minas Gerais (IFSuldeMinas) opened registrations for a total of 3.600 places in 83 free higher education and technical courses. Classes will begin in 2025, with both in-person and distance learning (EaD) options.
The free courses are distributed across the eight campuses of the Federal Institute, located in the cities of Carmo de Minas, Inconfidentes, Machado, Muzambinho, Passos, Poços de Caldas, Pouso Alegre and Três Corações. In total, 28 technical courses integrated with high school, 12 subsequent technical courses, 42 undergraduate courses and one concomitant technical course are being offered.

Selective Process
The selection process for the free integrated technical courses and the subsequent course in Nursing at the Federal Institute (IFSuldeMinas) will be carried out through an in-person test, scheduled for December 8, with 50 questions in Portuguese and Mathematics.
For subsequent and concurrent free courses (except Nursing), selection will be made by lottery. For higher education courses, candidates can choose between taking the in-person test, also on December 8, or using their score from the National High School Exam (Enem), considering the editions from 2016 to 2023. Places offered by SiSU will be announced in a specific notice.
How to register for free courses
Registration for the entrance exam at the Federal Institute (IFSuldeMinas) can be done between September 16 and November 14, 2024. To participate, those interested in the free courses must access the institute portal. For free undergraduate courses, a registration fee of R$40,00 will be charged.
For integrated technical courses and subsequent nursing technician courses, the fee is R$20,00. After completing the registration, the candidate must print the Federal Collection Guide (GRU) and make the payment at bank branches or lottery outlets until November 18, during bank opening hours.
For subsequent and concurrent courses, except for Nursing, there will be no registration fee. Candidates for free courses who meet low-income criteria may request a fee waiver.
Registration fee exemption
Candidates for free courses with a per capita family income equal to or less than a minimum wage, who have completed elementary or high school in public schools or as full scholarship students in private institutions, may request an exemption from the registration fee. To do so, it is necessary fill a form specific available on the website of the Federal Institute (IFSuldeMinas).
